I've heard from quite a few people (outside the Internet) say that Frozen is the only Disney movie they loved. Others might add The Lion King to the group.

I'm not saying they weren't trying to please Disney fans, they kept it safe with sisters as protagonists. But I do get this feeling that their main target is an audience other than the Disney fans.

Well it was certainly made for people who liked Tangled. Though, Tangled was ADVERTISED (not the actual film) as a Shrek like movie and Frozen definitely takes a page out of Shrek's book. I'll settle for a very strong sorta. It might change to a yes.

I liked it just like I like other disney movies

It does make you think that this is a possible reason for why Frozen was made....

I can see that...

I think it's made both for:
A) Your average Disney fan, who buys a lot of merchandising and is just looking for a temporary escape from real life;
and
B) For people who don't like Disney: wether they actively dislike it or not. It's a way of saying "Hey, look at us, we're cool and modern (like Dreamworks)!!"
