She's here if you count Elsa and Anna. I once had Rapunzel much higher. I still love her, and I love her sunny personality, bravery, her dreaminess, many talents, and her emotional struggle through finding out her real identity. BUT (You all knew that was coming) I can't stand how perfect she is and how everything Rapunzel does she accomplishes with a snap of a finger. Meets a bunch of thugs for the first time? They love her! A horse that is seeking revenge? Kind as soon as he meets Rapunzel! I don't like how Rapunzel is an arch-type and just all of the great qualities you can think of put into one, and how everything Rapunzel does is put into a positive or funny light. I understand Rapunzel hitting Flynn with a frying pan when he first breaks in, but she REPEATEDLY hits Flynn WITH the frying pan until he probably got a concussion. Yes, I do still love her, but all these reasons explain Rapunzel's drop on my list.

again what Sk8er said. the movie TELLS you how insecure and dorky she is but... she never really seemed that way to me. every other scene she's very confident- pitching to Gothel, blackmailing Flynn, winning over Max, etc. etc. etc. There's nothing she can't do and it's boring. how am we to relate to a bad-a super-talented buttkicking bruiser who can do cool tricks with her hair very suddenly, gets her way in everything?

she's selfish and that's my second gripe. Ariel was selfish but mainly she was just a naive, hormonal teenage girl who seriously needs some of Cindys foresight. Merida was bratty to her mom but she realizes her terrible mistake and tries to fix it. Rapunzel self-excuses and the movie never calls her out.

also, her 'dream' is so pointless. she doesn't NEED to nearly kill herself to see some dang lanterns! that's not brave, it's foolish. at first she acts like she means to find out who is sending them on her birthday but doesn't even try! she just has fun with Flynn. at least Jasmine and Ariel ran away to change their lives for the better. Rapunzel just runs away because Mom told her she can't do something and she decided sneak behind her back even after admitting it's wrong. her moral spinelessness is my big beef.

another thing... she doesn't bring anything new to the table. sweet girly girl who cooks and loves animals? Snow, Cindy, Aurora. Lost blonde princess with magical abilities and appearance and falls in love with the first man they meet? Aurora. Locked away in a tower? Jasmine. Awkward and clumsy? Mulan. Likes nature? Snow, Aurora, Pocahontas. Reads? Belle. I get it's hard to be truly creative sometimes but they just took traits people love about the others and threw them into her yet it's Rapunzel who is credited for a lot of that- mainly the similarities she shares with Snow, who gets hatred for them while people find these things adorable in Rapunzel.

sorry, tl;dr: she's unoriginal, very Sueific, and with her selfishness and moral cowardice she's a bad role model imo.
