The original Freddy I don't believe was a pedophile. He was a child killer. Somehow, someone somewhere told the guys remaking ANOES that it was a good idea to have him be a molester. I hated that, Freddy just killed children.

no freddy didnt only kill kids he first killed there parents if they were there then he killed the kid in there dreams and then he kills them in real life DUH!!

Freddy was absolutely a child molester- however the "silly" remake didn't portray the complete nature of the character. Freddy was not only a serial rapist of children but he also KILLED them. Why this was omitted from the remake I'm not sure. In the original movie, children were often missing and always murdered. Hope that helps. :)

Just a child killer? With what kind of motive? Most child killers are pedophiles. Why would he kill children for the fuck of it?

My only issue is that it's a repeating theme that the children Freddy haunts is his revenge for the sins of the parents. My understanding in the first Nightmare on Elm đường phố, street film is that he was a child killer and had been a custodian who worked in the boiler room at the school hoặc near children but not a pedophile as later portrayed in the remake with Jackie Earl Haley. I always understood that the boiler room was Freddy's "haunt" where he worked alone and that is why so many of the kids dream they are there. Absolutely. He was always intended to be a child molester, but when they were filming the first movie, a court case involving a child molester forced them to change him to just a killer. They didn't want people assuming Freddy was based on the court case in question.

It depends on which version of A Nightmare on Elm Street. In the original movie and its sequels, he was just a child killer. In the GODAWFUL remake, he's a child molester and killer.
