I walked around my mansion. I rubbed my eyes as I took the elevator downstairs. I headed for breakfast. My personal chef already had a meal prepared. I smiled & took the food. Once I finished. The phone started to ring. I tried to not sound tired & picked up the phone. I said..

"Mike Mitchell. Director of 'Shrek Forever After'"

"Oh. Hi Mike."

"Hi Makayla. There's this audition for a movie called 'Heartless' I was wondering if you were interested."

"Yah. When's the audition?"

"Tomorrow, It's at the big acting building on Rome st."

"Ok, What will my part be if I get it?"

"The daughter of your heartless mother."

"Ok. See you there."

"Alright. Get your monolouge ready."

I put the phone back. I jumped up & down. I ran up four flights of stairs to practice my monolouge. I cleared my throat & began..

" Oh Daaaaaaad!...Do we have to go to Grandma's house? I don't know what makes you think going to Grandma's house is so much fun, you get up early and polish the car like we're going someplace cool, like the beach..Is it just me, or does her house smell like an old antique store couch...Yuk! And besides that, I'm the one she latches onto, to listen to all her old stories...well, I'm sorry if I can't appreciate her "WISDOM" right now...and Dad, let's face it, even you can admit the lady's a little bit crazy. One day I was going into the kitchen to get myself a drink and I heard her talking to somebody, I didn't want to disturb her, so I was really quiet. She was asking Grandpa how much salt he'd like in the stew,.....and he's been dead for ten years! I mean, come on! And another thing, I'm sorry, but her cooking is awful too...and OH!...OH!...and what was that disgusting stuff she made us last time for supper...BOILED OKRA?...That's just wrong! It felt like a hairy clam going down my throat. It took me three or four sips of Coke after each bite to get it down, and stay down....eeeeew I can still taste it! Dad can't we just skip this visit? I mean, Christmas is only four months away. I'm sure she wouldn't mind if we just called her.....Pleeease!"

I was very pleased. I kept practicing & practicing.

"Of course." I nodded. "And I'm flattered that you picked me."
He slid the contract toward me. I signed.
"You'll be working with Mr. Wes Bentley and Stacy Reed."

Stacy shook her head."Don't say it like that."
"Like what?"
"You know how you said it."
"Ok so i still have feelings for you ok."

"Rehearsals start today." He pointed at a door. "There's your dressing room. You can get your stage makeup and stuff in there."
I thanked him, smiled, and scurried off to the room.

Stacy faceplamed.
"Would getting back with me really be such a bad thing?"

I ran onto the set. "Hello, I'm Layne. You guys must be Stacy and Wes."

I grabbed a script. "We're at the part where your characters converse and I storm in, angry at Stacy's character, correct?" I said, trying to avoid the awkward conversation.
