One thing is being chubby, but being overweight is unhealthy, but we already have some anorexic looking princesses.

Hm, possible. Overweight is such a broad, general term that leaves me somewhat puzzled...in some cases, people can't really change the fact that they're overweight, their parents might have raised them that way, their metabolism might be really low, whatever the fact, and it's important for them to feel comfortable in their skin. At the same time, I feel that it will promote those overweight to not try and do anything about it. "Hey, this princess is overweight like me! That means I don't have to work out or go on a diet!" So yeah, mixed feelings on the topic.

I don't have problem with chubby princesses, but overweight, ermm, it is unhealthy. Well, actually I agree with Dylan, it depends.

Being a bit chubby is not bad. Being overweight is bad.

I agree with all of the above.
Aside that, these pictures made me laugh.

Yes being overweight can lead to poor health. I agree with Dylan. But it is happening right now but the opposite. We have princesses that are anorexic. Look at Ariel and Jasmine. Girls might want to look like them and lose weight and then lots of health problems can happen. We need a princess who is a little chubby, but is confident. Who is not super skinny but is beautiful and doesn't care. But we shouldn't have an overweight princess. We need an average looking girl.

Like Dylan and Alexandra said, it depends. I think a chubby princess would be good, but not an obese one.

Chubby is one thing, or at least more realistic bodies. That's kind of what we need. I really feel bad for those girls that can't loose weight do to health conditions or whatever and feel like the default look for a princess is skinny. Though at the same time, those that don't have these health conditions will see it differently. It'll be like promoting obesity like everyone else said and obesity is unhealthy. I think they should make a Princess that is chubby, but not obese.

first of all, please don't say "anorexic" when you mean skinny. for one thing, anorexia is NOT a size, it's a serious mental disorder and you can't just tell when someone has it by simply looking. for another, that not only undermines what actual anorexic people have gone through to throw the word around, but is incredibly hurtful to imply skinny girls look sick. I agree Jasmine and Ariel look pretty cartoonish, but most of the princesses not only have a variety of body types but many are realistic, particularly Snow, Cindy, Mulan, Poca, Merida, and Punz, and Elsa and Anna look like taller, slightly slimmer versions of me. That's like saying the bigger heroines (I guess Tink, Merida, Elastigirl, Katrina, Eep, Fiona) promote being fat for having bigger hips and thighs, and you know nobody would tolerate THAT kind of shaming for a second.

Second, yes, definitely. We already promote obesity quite a bit in our culture, and wouldn't you know, we're sure not getting slimmer. people use the excuse "but it's genetics" or "I can't help it, it doesn't go away" when in reality, the majority of people simply don't put forth enough effort through healthy eating AND consistent exercise (as well as sleep) to actually see their weight go down, they eat a salad and go for a walk and kind of expect to see it leave in a week, lol. The vast majority of people can help their weight; the ones like diabetics who lack control over it for real are a tiny handful.

so while a DIFFERENT size, like maybe Eep from The Croods or Princess Fiona, might be better, an actual fat princess won't help anything. I think it'll just encourage the idea that overweight is OK because hey, even Disney promotes it now. I think 'average looking princess' is a better thing to focus on.

That said, there's nothing wrong with having skinny princesses. Before Western society started eating more and more and exercising less and less, most of them WERE slim. So Disney is just showing the girls at their natural healthy sizes, not just some beauty ideal. and in my experience, even fat people usually prefer looking at skinny princesses. My best friend is obese and she definitely prefers skinny people. (She even pointed out Ursula was fat when she rants about "starving".)

Thank AudreyFreak, for that first paragraph. I get anorexic a lot, but I don't have anorexia.. It actually hurts my feelings. I agree with everything Audrey said as well. ^^

I wouldn't mind a "chubby" princess. I will not say "realistic" because someone skinny is also realistic. Anyway, I think a "chubby" princess won't affect anything, it will prolly make people appreciate Disney's effort. I definitely don't think there should be an obese princess, though. Little girls and boys look up to the princesses as role models. Being obese, isn't sending the right message.

Like many have said, I'm fine with a chubby Princess, but I don't think they should do an overweight one.
