I'd say the one about not having Belle, Ariel or Rapunzel as my favourite DP, but thanks to Fanpop I know there are a lot of people who have different princesses as top. Also agree about the princesses from the 90's being over-sexed.

I suppose and Ariel is a little stupid and um...Ariel was not from the 90s (well okay 89....)...so I guess yeah ...well except Belle and Mulan (they were not really "over-sexed)....And I always knew Genie was Lonely....being a genie has to be lonely and sad....

I feel like these 3 princesses are a bit overrated. Don't get me wrong, I like them too. Poor genie! That picture of Ariel reminds me of Jim Hawkins.....0_0 What is wrong with me?!! Maybe her eyes??

Ariel might have flaws, but stupid? Not even close. She is one of the rare Disney princesses who put an actual effort into exploring a different culture instead of sitting around and being conetent with things that society and her surrounding can provide (like Belle and EVEN my beloved Rapunzel did before a certain point). When I was younger I viewed Genie mostly as a comic relief and only after re-watching Aladdin multiple times as an adult I realized how much of a dramatic and even tragic character he was.

Okay...would you all like to give some reason on WHY Ariel is stupid? She may be slightly foolish, but certainly not stupid...

Yeah...going to make a deal with a sea witch, who EVERYBODY knows is evil, is not stupid at all...right...

^ Also taking and eating an apple from an old hag you don't know a thing about while being aware that the EVil Queen who already had an attempt at your life once by using someone else (the huntsman) is plotting against you and wants to kill you is also totally not stupid and therefore Snow White is never being called out on it, right? Or, kissing a talking frog you met about a minute ago because said frog claims he is a handsome prince with tones of money and offers you a certain amount of said money if you break his curse while your best friend is downstares dancing with someone who is supposed to be that prince the frog claims to actually be like Tiana did is not stupid either? But of course Ariel, the one who at least acknowledged what she was doing and was willing to face the consequences of her actions hence signing the deal and being ready to become Ursula's slave if Eric doesn't fall in love with her and kiss her within three days is supposedly stupid just because you are not particulary fond of her? Um, no. There is a difference between criticizing character's actions that were objectively wrong and destructive (which some of Ariel's actions REALLY were and even as her fan I entirely acknowledge that) and having a plain bias against a character accusing him/her in things that do not apply to them. I'm not particulary fond of Belle but I would never call her stupid, I'm not a fan of Snow White either but I wouldn't call her a bad person of come up with accusations that have nothing to do with her. Ariel was reckless, yes. But stupid? No. Never. She was intelligent and open minded and didn't judge something before putting an actual effort into exploring it and seeing things from all the angles.

I never said some of the other girls were not stupid as well. There's a difference between the evil being after you, chasing you, and going to the evil yourself. But here we talk about Ariel. And no, she WAS NOT ready to face the consequences of her actions. She didn't quite grasp what would have happened if she didn't make Eric fall in love with her.

Ariel went to Ursula and was willing to give something that belonged to HER and only - her voice - as a price for her turning into human. She repeatedly stated that she didn't need her friends following her and the terms of the deal Ariel made with Ursula implied that she was the one and only to face the consequences if she doesn't succeed. She was NOT willingly subscribing to putting anyone in danger and considering that Ursula was already known for making deals with other mermaids Ariel took this chance as her only option AFTER her father blew up everything she had been collecting for her entire life and making it clear that he wasn't going to appreciate or at least accept and respect her different worldview. What Ariel did was reckless and this particular action of hers wasn't the smartest move, which was due to the fact that she did it while being entirely and completely desperate and miserable (and many people happen to do things way more reckless when they are miserable and desperate), but it doesn't make HER stupid because of one questionable move.

Actually thinking about it, Snow White let a stranger in the house out of pity. She's just so caring and compassionate. She knew the queen was after her, and she was scared, but there was no way for her to know that the queen can transform. And since everybody else in the kingdom loved Snow, she could not assume that this old woman was the queen and was going to harm her.

As for Ariel, I disagree. I find her stupid. She could go and explore so many seas and oceans. That's much more that what Rapunzel had.

Snow White clearly remembered how Evil Queen had an attempt at her life by using someone else and while she couldn't know that the Queen had an ability to transform she could at least be suspecious about the old hag who could have easily been working for Queen. And even if she chose to let her into he house out of compassion/pity, eating something that the stranger gave you knowing that someone wants to kill you is a downright ridiculous and dumb move.

Ariel was not obligated to limit herself with the world/culture she lived in when she wanted to explore other worlds and cultures. She was trapped in her own body and wanted changes more than she wanted anything she ever had. Obviously, not everyone can relate to those feelings and issues, but it's possible to at least understand where she was coming from instead of judging her just because she happens to not fit into someone's standards of "good girl" who's primary duty is to please her family.

I agree with the Ariel one as well. I think she is stupid.
