What does the word 'type' mean to bạn when it comes to a guy/girl?

I've been around a lot of people who claim that a particular person isn't his/her type and they don't even know themselves. For example, tall girls isn't exactly a được ưa chuộng type for some guys.

It means the people are being dumb and classifying themselves as different from others. One could simply say that they do not like a person, hoặc do not have much in common with them, but to say that one is not someone's type, I feel is rude and offensive.
