This may be a strange answer considering the fact were discussing a fictional character but it should not matter weather Runt was into Males or Female wolfs.
We've already got our story questioning social boundaries in the first movie to act as an allegory for similar social boundaries in our OWN world. To do something more literal like this would only be beating a dead, cliched horse upside its head. It's like making X-Men characters who were straight an arbitrarily making THEM gay. They're already persecuted by society for being different, so what's the point? Elsa from Frozen sings 'Let It Go', and ANYONE in the audience could think it's about how THEY felt cast off from society. If they make her gay in Frozen 2, she'll just be following a trend. Don't do it, Disney.
I say sure, don't let anyone decide what they can and cannot do, even if it's done since it's an important message and/or a new style that leads to new things. ;)
It would be wrong for any company to deny this for any negative reasons.
It's so ironic someone to say a freedom tolerating idea is "bad" and, "cliche", yet we seen common romance over a billion times when it comes to "cliche". I would rather be free and make all characters question dumb popular belief. For anyone out there, there is no flaw to make a character of any in Alpha and Omega gay. Anyone who said it is proves further that movie criticism is dead probably.
Also I don't mean to sound mean, but to recent reply, I think this other comment showed caring and complaint about it.
