She sat on the bus, her boyfriend beside her. A single rose in her hand and a picture frame turned over in her lap. It was pitch black out, and few people were on the bus with them. The only noise bạn could hear was the motor of the large vehicle. They stopped abruptly and the girl stood and walked to the front of the bus to get off. Her heels clicked on the ground as she gracefully came to the front and exited the bus, the man behind her. She stood still for a moment as the bus drove away, leaving her in front of her destination. Her boyfriend came up beside her and took her hand, looking over at her.
"Are bạn sure bạn want me to come?" The red head nodded and she walked ahead to the cemetery, the boy trailing behind her.
The gate creaked as they opened it and went through. Zack grabbed his phone and turned on the flashlight so they could see where they were going, but it didn't really help. They walked past what seemed like thousands of tombstones until they got to a specific one. Rene looked like she was about to cry. Her hands were shaking and her eyes filled up, but didn't shed a tear. Carefully, she knelt down in front of the grave; not giving a damn about the damp dirt beneath her. Rene set down the rose, placing it on the ground in front of the tombstone delicately; then put the picture frame up against it.
It was a small picture frame, but bạn could clearly see what it was. There was an older woman. Her hair was a deep red color, and her eyes as green as the forest. A small smile was on her face of true delight and happiness, not like a posed smile. She was looking down at a young child. The child had the same red hair, covering her entire head; but instead of green eyes, they were brown like an autumn leaf.
Zack hadn't seen the picture and looked at it, seeing the similarity of the two. He knelt down beside his girlfriend and wrapped an arm around her, pulling her in tightly. She immediately burst into tears, putting her head on his shoulder; soaking his áo sơ mi without a care. After a few moments, she lifted her head and looked back at the grave. The red head attempted to speak, but her throat was clogged. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, stabilizing herself. When she opened her mouth, the words formed.
"Hi mom..." Rene wiped away a few of her tears and smiled a little, laughing at herself. "I know bạn can't hear me, but it doesn't matter. We'll have one of those one sided conversations like we used to.. Whenever bạn were mad at me. Except this time bạn won't cave in and talk back."
Without looking away from the grave, the red head took her boyfriend's hand and squeezed it.
"You've missed quite a lot since... That day... I haven't had the guts to come over since it happened and tell you... Even though it was about four years ago.."
She laughed at herself again.
"I graduated from Gotham," she đã đưa ý kiến shakily. "I really wished bạn were there to see me.. And I still work at The Daily Bugle. It's a really good job... I bet you'd like my articles. You'd probably read them all the time."
Zack squeezed her hand back.
"This is Zack. He's my, special friend. I'm sure you'd tình yêu him, after bạn interrogated the crap out of him."
This time Zack chuckled at her.
"Well she would have!" She answered his laugh. "Anyways, I just wanted to come bởi and, finally see your new place. It's too dark and dismal for you. bạn were always joyful and spirited and colorful."
Rene stood up, Zack following her. The girl leaned over and kissed the grave stone, then took a pebble off the ground and placed it on hàng đầu, đầu trang in a curved in spot. The boy with blue eyes wrapped his arm around her again as she leaned into him. She sighed.
"Happy birthday mom..."
