For the entirety of October, I will be doing CoH articles. One Tuesday will be a review, than a hàng đầu, đầu trang ten, and so on until Halloween. And since I did a review on Dead Space, now is the best time to talk about a hàng đầu, đầu trang ten. And when it comes to hàng đầu, đầu trang tens, none are thêm done than the scariest enemies in video games. And while enemies are good and scary on their own, I want to look at bosses… Which isn’t much better, I know, but screw it. There are many disturbing bosses in games, especially in horror games. But what about those that come when bạn least expect it from a horror game. One’s that just hiển thị up without warning. I think that is what makes the boss and/or enemy thêm disturbing. So, today, I want to share some rather creepy bosses today from non-horror games. And I want to avoid the obvious bosses, so I will not be including things like Giygas from Earthbound because that’s too easy. Same goes for the multitude of Zelda bosses. So, with that out of the way, let the danh sách begin.

#10: Chimera from Mother 3

I know that I đã đưa ý kiến that Giygas was not going to be on this list, but bạn know what is just as creepy as Giygas? Not Giygas. Also not being allowed to play Mother 3 without emulation. Anyway, the Chimera is a very creepy enemy. Once again, it’s another enemy that chases you, just like Nemesis hoặc Pyramid Head hoặc The Hunter. Granted, not for a majority of the game, let alone the entire game. But when bạn are being chased bởi him, the game changes into a sort of horror game. In the lab where the creature is made, the one’s experimenting on it begin to pop up dead around the entire lab. Now, thiết kế wise, when bạn look at the Chimera, he isn’t that scary. Some may even find this thing to be adorable, but it’s the fact that he is able to kill bạn in one hit that may scare some people. But I think the thing that makes the Chimera scary is it’s… I want to say music, but that is not music. One moment, it is an ominous theme. The next, bạn hear the Chimera stomping around in the lab, and the sounds of the Porks that run the lab making frightened noises before bạn hear the roars of the Chimera, and then it goes back to stomping. The sound of it is enough to make people scared. And it isn’t even done once bạn leave the lab, as bạn will then find the Chimera again in a bathroom, guarding one of the best rings in the game, and yes, bạn have to sneak past the Chimera to get it. The thought of something like this wandering around, in a small room, let alone killing dozens in a lab, is enough to make anyone disturbed. Maybe not as much as Giygas, but it gets the job done.

#9: Jenova from Final fantaisie VII (SPOILERS FOR FINAL fantaisie VII)

Here is one that is a true classic, yet still a very disturbing creature. Being found bởi the Shinra corporation in order to harvest the energy of the Ancients, Jenova was used bởi Shinra scientist, Hojo, to create perfect soldiers. Jenova is an alien lifeform with a pretty dark history, having destroyed a massive amount of the Ancient population before the humans were even around and, not having been destroyed, was only put away and hopefully forgotten, until Shinra found out. After the soldier Sephiroth was created, and discovered the secret of Jenova, as well as his own birth, he was driven to the point of insanity, and he murdered those that stood in his way in order to find his mother, where he used her body in order to bring his dream of becoming a god to fruition. Some have argued that Jenova, with her backstory and influence on Sephiroth, is the true antagonist of Final fantaisie VII. But what I think can make anything disturbing is how they are in their appearance, and Jenova is disturbing in almost all of them. Not scared of a robotic doll-like mask? Well, she has a thêm fleshy appearance without limbs and a glowing eye. Still not doing it for you? How about her body without her having a head and eyes for nipples? Yeah, that ain’t something bạn see everyday. It could just be the early cutscene visuals that the PS1 was known for, but it is a pretty disturbing sight to see, and I think that is what makes Jenova a very creepy and disturbing enemy. Makes bạn really long to go back to the Golden Saucer.

#8: Matt Helms from No thêm Giải cứu thế giới 2: Desperate Struggle

When bạn think of No thêm Heroes, bạn usually think of the over the hàng đầu, đầu trang action and the crazy mini-games to get money. Not dead children… Yes, we’re going to that level now. So now this and Luigi’s Mansion are two games I know of with glanced over child death. The backstory of Matt Helms is as follows. A child was abandoned bởi his family and, before he died, he made a deal with the devil to come back to life as a ghost and kill them. The hate he felt after he killed them allowed him to remain, and so he stayed in the house he died in, feeding off it’s hate to become stronger, and eventually an assassin, I’m assuming. When Travis faces Matt, he will be chuckling and laughing in a disturbing fashion, and then, he will hiển thị himself. He takes the appearance of a fat adult male with a gao mask on that hides his face. He continues to laugh in his child like fashion as he attacks Travis with his axe and molotovs. And after Travis kill him bởi blowing up his head, Matt returns as his child self and nearly kills Travis, until Sylvia shoots him, but not kill him, as Matt gets right back up and runs off. With this kind of backstory and imagery, it almost makes bạn forget about the terrible boss fight prior to hearing it…. Almost.

#7: Beelzebub from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

I was originally going to put the ball of corpses, Legion, on this list, but then I remembered the disturbing and gory nature of Beelzebub. An optional boss and first appearing in Symphony of the Night, Beelzebub, on it’s own, has no attacks whatsoever and is completely defenseless. He only appears as a massive rotting corpse that hangs from the ceiling bởi a pair of hooks and chains, and is only able to attack bởi sending out a swarm of massive flies hoặc drop poisonous maggots from it’s rotting body. When Alucard get’s close to it, he can see the rotting flesh, worms crawling from the inside of it, and wide open wounds. Every time bạn damage Beelzebub, a piece of his flesh will fall apart. Starting from his legs and working your way up, bạn will remove a different piece of Beelzebub every time bạn attack him, but bạn are also at the mercy of his mass of bugs. For a boss that is not able to move, he can prove to be quite challenging just bởi allowing the bugs to attack you, and he can easily kill bạn if bạn aren’t quick on your feet. I chose Beelzebub over Legion because of the sight of it. Legion may be an army of corpses, but due to how small they all are compared to Beelzebub, bạn aren’t able to see the full detail of them and be thêm disturbed and disgusted bởi the imagery like bạn would Beelzebub. Even though the two are disturbing in their own rights, the detail bạn can see on Beelzebub just makes me prefer him over Legion.

#6: One Reborn from Bloodborne

Thank goodness Bloodborne isn’t a horror game, because this would be cheating. But damn if it doesn’t deserve to be a horror game with creations like this. The One Reborn is believed to be the end results of the experimentation of the Yharnam inhabitants, as those involved with the experiments wanted humans to ascend to the level of the Great One’s, and this is what they made in their ritual: A mass of human flesh, led bởi a single massive torso that controls the entire body. Coming from the moon, the entire gathering of undead people are able to di chuyển around the area and attack bạn with ease. The One Reborn attacks bởi having every corpse on it’s body lung lay, swing it’s limbs violently to strike the player, ngọn lửa, chữa cháy body parts into the air and fall on hàng đầu, đầu trang of the player to hurt them, fires a liquid ball from the torsos head, lung lay, swing it’s massive arm at the player, and finally, it releases a disgusting discharge that can fill the entire arena and the only way to dodge it is to immediately head to higher ground. The fight continues to get thêm and thêm painful as the Maidens from up above are able to attack you, and The One Reborn is still easily capable of attacking bạn from that high up. Just seeing The One Reborn di chuyển is something that I don’t think the human eye should witness. And for a game about disgusting creatures that have ascended to godhood and based on the Lovecraftian literature, I’d say that’s a plus for From Software.

#5: SA-X from Metroid: Fusion

Yes… I know I đã đưa ý kiến that I wouldn’t be including any of the obvious onto this list, and of all the enemies that chase bạn in video games, SA-X is one of the most notorious, but how could I refuse. Metroid Fusion is a quiet game. Samus is alone, on a massive không gian station, forced to hunt down something far worse than Metroids: Parasite X. And with the parasite able to take the form of any creature, it really makes for a threatening for. And when I say it can take the form of anything, I do mean anything. Including Samus herself. Which results in the creation of the powerful and deadly SA-X. This creature is not like Nemesis hoặc The Hunter. Your attacks will not stop it for a short time. It won’t even slow SA-X down. As of the time bạn are first introduced to SA-X, your attacks mean nothing to it. bạn cannot harm it one bit, and all bạn can do is hide. bạn just have to hide and there is nothing bạn can do about it. The only way bạn have of knowing that she is close is the sound of her footsteps. With your abilities that bạn have at that moment, all bạn can do is hide yourself away and pray that she doesn’t find bạn and that she walks away. Until her AI kinda bugs out and she can easily be avoided, then it’s just funny. But aside from that, she is a nightmare and what borders Metroid Fusion from being a family friendly adventure game to a survival horror game.

#4: em bé from Drakengard 3 (SPOILERS FOR DRAKENGARD 3)

I will never stop talking about these goddamn things! Never! They are weird and creepy and they float around and they don’t belong in this world! The entire twelfth chapter is dedicated to these things coming from the portals in the sky and destroying the world, attacking and eating whatever they see. They float around, make constant baby noises, and whenever they come close to a human, they surround it and begin to devour it. The entire Chapter 12 gives me some serious Berserk Eclipse vibes, and when bạn give me Eclipse vibes, that is not a good time. I don’t know what else I can say about these things. They are just giant, floating, naked em bé that come from the portal in the sky and eat people while making baby noises, and they do so in graphic detail and follow their leader. I mean, the boss fight with their leader is pretty damn easy. Just avoid the em bé and their lasers (Oh, they also shoot lasers), and just fly towards the boss. Done. End of Drakengard 3’s 100% completion of the game and canon ending. Everyone go trang chủ and try to forget these em bé were ever a thing.

#3: The Master from Fallout (SPOILERS FOR FALLOUT 1)

Okay, I’m not a hundred percent sure on if this guy counts as a boss hoặc not, but he can certainly be an enemy, and I don’t think bạn need me to tell bạn he looks kind of creepy. Not that his backstory is any better. Originally a human named Richard Grey, he was exiled from vault, kho tiền City for murder and would later come across a vat of FEV, Forced Evolutionary Virus, which mutated humans and động vật and turned them into… less so. After being submerged in the chemicals for a month, Richard came out as a blob of his own flesh and later became known as The Master. With this new form, he was able to take over those who came into the lab, as well as computer technology. He gained intelligence from the computers, but also alternate personalities from the people he absorbed, and later, grew fascinated with the idea of turning humans into what he had become, but found that they would only turn into the brutish and dim Super Mutants. He began to find those who could transform, and to turn them into creatures like himself so he could unify the Wasteland and create a world where mutants would take over and rule. Throughout the game, the Super Mutants are a problem, created bởi him and his cathedral, and would use the cult to his advantage. When bạn meet him, depending on how bạn make your character, The Master will speak to bạn in different ways. He could admire your strength hoặc insult bạn for having low intelligence. But, his most disturbing trait is his voice, which changes at different points. He could sound like a grown male, and then a woman, and then.. Something else entirely. The Master may not have been in a horror game, per say, but Fallout 1 is the closest I think people will get to the Fallout games becoming a true horror game, and the Master really helps with that.

#2: Pandora from Revelations: Persona (SPOILERS FOR REVELATIONS: PERSONA)

I don’t know what is worse. Persona 1’s super dated gameplay hoặc the boss that is Pandora. Being the physical manifestation of Maki’s nihilism, the creature comes into the game as the final boss of Revelations: Persona and the evil that plans to destroy reality as a whole. And once again, the imagery of this creature is what makes is disturbing. But the fact that the creature is a representation of nihilism and the doubts of one of the characters in the game, as well as having a grotesque appearance, only makes it all the thêm disgusting and hard to watch. Pandora seems normal with the young woman’s head, but as the screen zooms out to hiển thị her body, it only shows the true appearance of the monster, with a backside for a face, multiple limbs surrounding her, and a large, swollen, grey body that stands over the entire party as it looks at you. She is able to attack with high elemental attacks, as well as raise attack and defense. But the boss later transforms into a một giây form, which it transforms into a blue humanoid with con bướm, bướm wings, which makes the trước đó creature a little less disturbing now that it is a cocoon, but still haunting to see. The sight of Pandora, as well as the deep and dark narrative behind it really makes Pandora a disturbing sort of creature in my eyes.

#1: Broodmother from Dragon Age: Origins

I have to be honest, when I heard people tell me that the Broodmother was incredibly disturbing, I thought that they were over-exaggerating a little. But the moment I got to it, I saw why people thought so. The Broodmother is a special kind of Darkspawn, a demon in the world of Dragon Age. Once perfectly healthy women, they are captured bởi Darkspawn, and are then force-fed Darkspawn tissued, raped bởi the Darkspawn, and are forced to devour their vomit. After a long and painful process, the women slowly begin to turn into a Broodmother, having a cannibalistic urge to eat flesh, even that of their own birthed children. After the process is complete, the Broodmother is born, and appears as a massive, fleshy creature with large breasts and covered in tentacles. The creature is able to birth over fifty Darkspawn with each litter, and they are already prepared to walk at that age, before growing rapidly in the span of a few weeks and already prepared to kill their enemies. The Broodmother is found deep within the Dead Trenches, and was allowed to be created due to one person’s selfish goal to try and get the treasure that was behind a set of traps. And to think bạn run into the Broodmother when bạn are trying to sort out Dwarven politics. And it doesn’t stop there, as in the DLC for Dragon Age: Origins, Awakening, a human Broodmother, titled The Mother, who has kept her memories of her past and has somehow been driven to a much further kind of insanity from it than that of the mindless and violent Broodmothers. It is not just the sight of a Broodmother, but their creation, their story, their purpose to exist, and how they come out of nowhere, that makes it disturbing. And I can’t think of anything worse than the Broodmother. Take care.
