Meyer wanted to make her ma cà rồng absolutely flawless, so she brought it up that her version of ma cà rồng sparkle.

For the same reason other ma cà rồng do whatever they do in the sun. That's just how they were created.

There really is no "correct" way for a vampire to react to sunlight. It's no big deal, people just tình yêu complaining.
