0524wes08 Well,considering that he was eventually going to be imprinted.The Author knew that she will have to make Jacob be happy by the end of Bella and Edward's story somehow.To know that Jacob will never be with Bella was an important issue.To leave the story ended with Jacob being only the second choice was not an option for her and to know that a lot of jacob's fan will not let her go easily.She had to make that important choice that I clearly agreed and understand.I think that it's a good twist to the saga and for Bella to finally gave that part to Reneesme.From the begining of the story ,Bella was always belong to Edward and she was destined to be a Vampire and that is why Jacob couldn't imprint on Bella.Well that is part of my theory anyhow.If you want to talk more than please feel free in contacting me.THANKS!

cheergeek I disagree with both you guys. Stephenie Meyer has stated that from the begining of the novels (when she started to write sequels to Twilight, for example, 'Forever Dawn') that Jacob was always set to imprint on Renesmee. He did not radomnly get Renesmee, because he never got Bella. And I don't personally believe that he only loved Bella because he was set to love her daughter. Their relationship was not originally supposed to get as close as it did, but with the 2nd an 3rd book, Jacob and Bells became real close. I also believe that one can fall in love with anyone because that's just how life is, and they /were/ human. Now, we can agree that they are not, and their bonds between Jacob and Bells and each of their soulmates (Ness, and Edward) is stronger than any other bond they've had.
