why doesn't a werewolf bite not affect an original??

have bạn read the book?? cause i already know all of that..but i want to know the explanation as to why werewolf bites wouldln't affect Elijah. cause he's a vampire..and does that mean he's the original werewolf as well hoặc are there original werewolves??
