Was Mellini psychic?

In the episode "Smoke and Mirrors", Mellini is the washed up mentalist who is suspected for the murder of another magician.
Throughout his interrogation, he makes guesses that turn out to be startlingly accurate. This seems to go beyond interpreting minuscule social cues. Mellini even infers Toby's abandonment bởi his mother just bởi looking.
