I like this backstory of her mother raising her to be a goody two-shoes and her breaking away from this image gradually during her adulthood. She's already started doing things her mother initially discouraged her from (and it's not like it's anything ridiculous or dangerous either), and I like this idea of her gaining more control over her own life, and enjoying all these things she never got to do when she was younger. And not just the things her mother wouldn't let her to (e.g. getting her ears pierced!) but also how she was lonely in school and now she's grown up and has great friends.

Basically, I think this is already happening in the show, but I'd like it to continue. I mean, I don't want her to lose her quirky awkwardness that she has, but people can be both confident and awkward! I like the idea of her gradually becoming more and more confident as the series progresses, and think they've made a nice start on this. I just hope they continue to focus on this sort of thing really! :)
