I remember visiting this website once...
It was called Resident Evil HD Sells 1 Million, Breaks PSN Record - GameSpot
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
Resident Evil HD Sells 1 Million, Breaks PSN Record
Plus, entire franchise reaches 65 million units sold.
Capcom announced Friday that its latest Resident Evil HD remake, released in January, has now sold more than 1 million units worldwide. The $20 game is currently available for a wide range of platforms, including Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC.
In addition, Resident Evil HD set a new record for the "biggest-selling day one digital title" on the PlayStation Network, the publisher said. Capcom further explained that this record is for first-day sales volume in North America and Europe. It\'s unclear what game Resident Evil HD unseated from the top.
Resident Evil HD also becomes Capcom\'s fastest-selling digital title in the company\'s history for North America and Europe. What\'s more, Resident Evil HD\'s sales helped the entire Resident Evil franchise reach more than 65 million units sold as of March 31.
Originally released in 1996, Resident Evil was created by Shinji Mikami, who has since left Capcom and now works for the Bethesda-owned Evil Within developer Tango Gameworks. Capcom released the first remake of the original Resident Evil game back in 2002, for the GameCube. This latest version is in fact an HD version of that remake, featuring new gameplay elements such as more camera control options along with better visuals.
GameSpot critic Kevin VanOrd wrote in his review: "Later Resident Evil games would add more viruses and unnecessary subplots, but the original allows that menacing mansion to do most of the talking. In this series, less is more."

Bring on the Resident Evil 2 HD remaster so I could kill Sherry on purpose. Annoying little girl.
@sonypony4eva You want Crapcunt to ruin that game as well?
Awesome, now how about a Resident Evil 2 HD re-release, now that\'s something I\'d buy for sure!
@Stogin You want Crapcunt to ruin that game as well?
too bad that people who bought this didn\'t begin playing Resident Evil till the 4th one and we\'re expecting a completely different game then what they presumed. and the other half of the die hard fans have already completed this game to begin with such as myself but just want the nostalgic feeling on their new console
When an HD remake of a previous remake (for Gamecoube no less) turns out to be good according to critics, it\'s like flipping a coin and seeing it balance on the edge. That chance occurence is much more mysterious and weird than the contrived additions of the RE lore in later games.
Say what you want about Resident Evil but this game is a monument of Shinji Mikamis talent and so is RE4 :]
Okay... now release Resident Evil 2, 3 and Code Veronica HD REmakes Capcom!!!
@pull_the_pin You want them to overpriced those games as well?
Proof old-school Resident Evil still has a lot of fans. Please take note Capcom.
@Jay2528 No, it\'s proof that fanboys will be fanboys and they\'re willing to ripped themselves off.
@texano975 @Jay2528 No sorry, it is proof fans like old-school RE and want to see more of it. If you feel it is a ripoff, so be it. People can spend their money however they want and if they are ultimately happy, it is not a ripoff.
Instead of actually taking a hint that people want Resident Evil games like this, Capcom will instead learn "We should just re-release all the other games repeatedly"
im more excited about the evil within 2 than resident evil 7 , because we already know that resident evil 7 is going to be another resident evil 6 all over again.
2) bring back survival horror with limited ammo and scary atmosphere aka NO DAYLIGHT.
3) no more lame looking jelly bullet sponge monsters bring back the simple zombies.
5) no more chris redfield since everytime hes in a game the game turns into a call of duty with his BSAA crap.
@resident_within Yes please remove enemy\'s with guns. Only main bosses\' should be allowed to have some type of weapon. And don\'t make the game\'s graphics look like crap like in RE6!
1 million copies is pretty good For 13 Years Old Game and WorldWide Digital Release .
And they said Resident Evil was dead after 6, lol. Even when it\'s not so great, ya gotta love the franchise as a whole.
@rickphoenixxx Well, they had to go back to a classic to sell this much...if it was RE7, maybe it would be a different story.
@tarp_master @rickphoenixxx All the main games have sold very well, and that trend would most likely continue unless RE7 is a carbon copy of 6. 6 was the worst, but still managed to move 4.5 million copies lol.
Awesome news! Hopefully this informs Capcom that we love classic Resident Evil and maybe they will remake Resident Evil 2 finally.
A game that is actually good and caters to its audience instead of trying to be CoD sells well? You don\'t say....
@unreal849 I wants my zombie killstreaks tho. I need a doge to sick on them too.
if they simply remastered these versions RE1, 2, 3 with modern graphics, some enhanced gameplay, they probably would sell better than re5 and re6 together and maybe even re4 (wich is good in some ways) that demostrates that people want old resident evil back no new michael bay directed resident evil, we got enough action movies around, the first resident evils were great because of the sum of all its parts, the bad gameplay (movement, camera angles, etc.) the bad inventory system that had you on your nerves, the lack of ammunition (one does not simply fight a zombie with a knife), the good story (for the year it was created), all together maked a game that was not so frustrating but catching making you want to go on, keep it going, get to the end, i remember that were my feelings as a kid with re the zombies didn\'t scare me much but the sum of all maked it a true horror game i was scared when i got a shotgun - What the hell i\'am going to face this time - the fact that sometimes i had no more than 15 rounds of the pistol, the times i had to run away to save ammunition, a good example that took this elements and puzzle them together was dead space 1 but very quickly trasformed into a new resident evil 5 with sci-fi setting, go back to the roots!
See, Capcom? Now go remake RE2 in the same fashion please.
Thats some pretty epic sales numbers for a Remaster. Capcom be rolling in that dough.
@iandizion713 they\'ll prob drop zero next guess kids today didn\'t have gamecubes
capcom will not remake resident evil 2 because they know they cant remake the atmosphere from resident evil 1 remake.
proof that capcom has no clue on how to create atmosphere in their games look at resident evil 5-6 and look at the evil within\'s atmosphere and lighting details.
resident evil was shinji mikami and without him they wont be able to re-make resident evil 2
@resident_within Shinji Mikami didn\'t direct Resident Evil 2, Hideki Kamiya did. Mikami was only on board as a producer.
@resident_within Capcom will remake ANYTHING what makes money.
A classic game will always remain classic...Resident Evil HD proved it right..
So glad that we got this masterpiece in HD. I really hope Capcom is thinking about doing the same for RE:Zero and then focus on a REmake of 2 and 3 that would be just as great as REmake. Additional rooms, puzzles and villains all while staying true to the brilliant, immersive classic gameplay/pre-rendered backgrounds and cam angles. I just love the old school REs with a passion.
Great remaster and long overdue addition to the Playstation Library
People whine about the remasters and then buy them in higher quantities than ever. Hypocrite hipsters.
@chippiez Stupid, people complain that they remaster everything. Resident Evil HD is exceptional.
if capcom can remaster megaman legends 1&2 that\'d be great.
@sakaixx @texano975 Resident Evil Director\'s Cut for the PS1 is on PSN for $9.99. So is Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3. which are $5.99 each.
They need all that funding so they can fund the next button prompt, co-op, action, horror, survival series.
@CapnXtraObvious They even f*** those up as well as they overprice them.
Yea because $20 for the resident evil remaster was WAYYY overpriced. Right?
Yes! Capcom stated that if this sold well it would Guage the direction for later titles. Hopefully it\'s enough to revert back to a horror core rather than action!
Hopefully this will inspire them to release a new Resident Evil in the classic style, or if anything, do a similar HD remake for 2 or 3.
@texano975 @Spitznock I\'m not sure why this is so hilarious to you. Spitznock said exactly what a very large group of RE fans would like to see.
