It is much easier to understand what they are saying if they spell things clearly and use proper grammer, so I don't have to stare at the computer for 5 minutes trying to understand what they are saying.

i use text language alot as its easier to type and i try to spell everything correctly but there are some people who just spell everything wrong and it seems on purpose, its kinda annoying sometimes!

If it take you 2.43 more second to type 4 extra letters and you're annoyed by that, then you need help. I'm sorry, but it's not okay if you can't be understood. That's the whole point of communication, and grammar helps immensely with that.

I think it's pretty easy to mess up grammer here and there, plus I know I don't always use perfect grammer, but when basic grammer is lacking, it gets kind of annoying.

so long a people can understand you thats all that matters! being dyslexic myself i often spell thing phonetically by accident but people still know what i mean, also it's often hard to understand peoples tone in writting so by putting stuff like lol it show that your just joking so their no offense taken (well in most cases anyways)

I don't think internet grammar should be perfect, but it should - at the very least - be legible.

This sometimes can be an intense issue around here, I think that when it's done on purpose it's kind of annoying but otherwise we're humans and we can so easily make mistakes while typing..it doesn't bother me as long as it is intelligible.

I don't think we should be grammar nazis.

I don't have anything against people who don't, but it's not ok to always use bad grammar.

It makes Fanpop look more professional if we have correct spelling and grammar.

i dont know why there are so many people that choose yes i mean why get stress with something so "unprofesional" like comments IN the internet we are treating comments like a term paper for our english teacher

I know i have lots of problems with grammar. This is my second languish, but i do try my best. I hope you can forgive me. And more important, i hope you understand me.

I just had to fix one my own comments in another pick because I made spelling mistakes and didn't check before I pressed the submit button and it bugged me. so this question made me laugh. I think personally that everyone makes mistakes, Its the obvious ones done on purpose that bug me.

I like the grammar to at least work, rather than be a big mess, but I'm okay with the odd acronym instead of words, or a lack of capitals.

Why shouldn't comments be written with the same care as a term paper? We're still trying to communicate, and it's a lot easier with standard English.

I think you should use it to the best of your ability.

You should be able to understand why someone is saying. Yes it is the internet, but would you like it if your boss was reading it what you were saying and thought you'd write like that at your job? Spelling mistakes are fine but choosing to spell like a drunk imbecile is just stupid! BTW I don't mean using a few u's and r's but if it's just rubbish then there's no point of even writing it in the first place...

For two simple reasons: 1: So other people can understand what you're saying, and 2: Because it gives teenagers a bad image/reputation. It encourages older people to consider us immature.

On one hand it would easier in terms of people understanding what you're saying or trying say but in other way it wouldn't be fair to tell someone what to write they have the right write whichever way they feel comfortable but in basics it might be easier in terms of understanding if they did.
