Chapter 7: Anticipation

“Are bạn sure bạn want to do this?” Lisa asked checking her hair out once thêm as she and Hugh sat in the limo, going to the Emmy awards.
“Yes” Hugh smiled at her. He couldn't help but find Lisa's trembling funny. She was nervous, but not because she was nominated for an Emmy for a first time. It was for a completely different reason. Although it involved doing something for the first time.
They decided to go public about their relationship one tháng before. They sat down and talked about it with Charlie, Billy and Becca. Charles, had đã đưa ý kiến it wasn't his thing to say whether they should be going public about their relationship because it was something they needed to decide on their own. Becca had been a bit reserved, but unlike Charles, she'd đã đưa ý kiến they should do it. Billy... well, surprisingly (or not), Billy had been ecstatic about it, saying how relieved he had been for not having to keep it a secret anymore. Apparently, the teenager ( hoặc thêm of a twenty-year-old that never left puberty), had found the whole 'keeping the relationship from press' really hard. He'd đã đưa ý kiến it was because the five of them couldn't even dine out without someone realizing Lisa and Hugh were together.
After thoroughly thinking about it, Hugh and Lisa decided it would be the best if they didn't say anything to the press and instead went to the awards together, going public right then.
Of course, it was thêm of Lisa's idea. She had always been the fun one. Hugh smiled. He found the whole going public thing a little bit too dramatic, but he'd support Lisa whatever she wanted to do.
Even though Hugh had been sure he would be the one to panic before they finally went public, Lisa was the one sweating about it.
Somehow, he was calm. He wasn't sure why that was, though. Actually, he had no idea what was going on. For the first time, the awards didn't seem so frightening and his stomach didn't churn.
He wondered what changed...
He'd almost always gone to the awards hoặc such events alone, and then, he'd hang out with Lisa. Every single time. And they'd sit together, and chat during the ceremony, although they hadn't been supposed to.

And then, it hit him. He'd always thought how Jo would react when she saw what Hugh and Lisa did at such events. Jo had gone hysterical over him diễn xuất like he was in a relationship with Lisa rather than her. The ngày the picture of Lisa and Hugh hugging had been published, she'd called him on the phone, accusing him of having an affair, hoặc at least, if not affair, being in tình yêu with Lisa.
Before that, she'd been pissed and hadn't wanted to talk to him because Lisa and he kissed on the cheek once he'd won. She'd gone on about how it all looked, and what would people say about it. The woman had been, just, too suspicious.

Now, he didn't have to hide. Now, he was going to act like he wanted around his girlfriend...
Now, he wasn't going to worry about what his … wife would tell him. Now, he would just go out there, and be who he'd always wanted to be. A man who didn't have to hide his feelings. (of any kind)

Hugh could now hear the mass of những người hâm mộ going crazy over their yêu thích stars and he knew they were close to the red carpet.
Lisa reached out for his hand and looked him in the eyes as the limo pulled over. Before she had a chance to say anything, Hugh brought his voice to say
“Lisa...”
His voice turned out to be rather soft and low,and he knew Lisa would have mistaken it for a nervous one. Of course, she immediately thought Hugh wasn't sure about the whole thing.
“Oh my god! I knew it, bạn aren't ready” her hand in his started shaking
“I knew it was a stupid idea.. Oh, god, to we have time to go back and get another limo?” she started looking around in panic. Hugh found a way to make her still.

“Lisa calm down... I'm not having cold feet” he đã đưa ý kiến with a grin. Lisa frowned, she must have never expected of him to be relaxed about everything. She seemed surprised. Hell, he was surprised, who knew how it was for her.

“But bạn wanted to say something...” she said, still a little bit panicky.
Hugh reached his hand to Lisa's face and titled her chin.
“I wanted to tell bạn that bạn look magnificent.” He smiled at her, finally, she exhaled in relief.
Hugh leaned in a pressed his lips to hers.
“Now, let's get out of this limo” he đã đưa ý kiến as one of the awards' assistant opened the lino door for them.
It was going to be a fun night.

Hugh was sitting in the living room, carelessly watching TV, hoặc rather, flicking trough the channels not bothering to settle on one, when he heard his daughter shout and door slam a few giây later.
