99% of bạn are amazing fans! This is a guide on dealing with the 1%.

To summarize:

1. báo cáo ATTACKERS IMMEDIATELY. bạn are doing the entire community a favor as they are probably attacking other members.

bạn MUST PROVIDE AS MUCH EVIDENCE AS POSSIBLE IN THE báo cáo FIELD, including đường dẫn to the attacks.

Attacks are personal insults, threats, bigotry, etc. A person saying they don't like a contribution is NOT an attack. Having a thảo luận is also not an attack until insults/threats etc. are mixed in.

2. IGNORE THEM. DO NOT RESPOND BACK. If bạn attack back, bạn are probably giving the attacker/troll what they want. We won't dig through 20 pages of reports to find out who started it. In some cases, both people will be banned.

3. Reporting is not a weapon. People who fraudulently báo cáo enemies, do not provide details, and/or repeatedly báo cáo people without providing evidence may also be removed from Fanpop. Some weirdos báo cáo their own fake users. Seriously, bạn are asking for it, and bạn aren't fooling anyone.

4. CHEATERS WILL BE BANNED: DON'T SWITCH TO YOUR FAKE ACCOUNTS EVER AGAIN

Don't switch accounts to jack up your fans, props, phiếu bầu votes, hoặc whatever. It's not fair to the honest fans. If bạn have Những người bạn who do this, please send them this article.

ALL of your accounts will be banned for life if a moderator chooses, even if bạn have amazing medals. I'm sure bạn can think of some famous banned fans, so we are serious. Consider this the final warning.

If bạn created multiple accounts for any reason, pick one, and do not ever log into the other accounts again. bạn don't need to xóa the old accounts, but do not use them. Excuses like "it's my brother/sister/dog's account" won't cut it.

Everyone is forgiven at this point. If you've cheated in the past, just don't do it again.

If bạn get caught cheating after this bài viết is published, bạn are toast, and bạn may lose your "main" account forever.

This is an bài viết describing how and why bans happen. It's an updated bài viết based on one we đã đăng in a troublesome club.

We've recently lifetime-banned several of the most troublesome users and deleted all of their content. In other words, there is no coming back for them. All their contributions are gone.

"But Fanpop, how can I avoid getting banned? I'm just a nice, honest, non-cheating fan!"

If someone picks a fight with you, DO NOT RESPOND, and immediately báo cáo it, and make sure bạn link to hoặc quote the offending content. We absolutely need all the details. If bạn simply báo cáo the user without providing evidence, no action will be taken against them.

Also, we're talking about personal attacks, not normal human interactions.

Example:
A người hâm mộ writes: "You suck and yo mamma sucks" ->You báo cáo them->Troll banned for life->You helped fanpop terminate a troll and made fanpop a better place!

Bad example:
Another người hâm mộ writes: "This was some interesting fanfic, but the first section is taken word-for-word from my work last week. Here's the link. Do bạn mind changing it hoặc attributing it to me?"->They are NOT a Troll, NOT banned, bạn should change your fanfic immediately, and bạn just wasted everyone's time. That being said, if the người hâm mộ started the post with a slur hoặc insult, they would have a problem.

There's a saying that "you can get away with almost anything if bạn do it nicely." While we're not necessarily encouraging people to try to get away with stuff, the "nicely" part is the key takeaway.

được trao the volume of content and literally millions of fans, we cannot go and dig through a thousand các bình luận to find out "who started it."

Think of it this way: if teachers and parents right now don't have time to figure out "who started it", imagine if one's parents had millions of children. Are they going to have time to sift through everything?

If bạn do respond to đã đưa ý kiến troll and there is a ton of back and forth, with both sides cussing each other out, both of bạn will be banned from ever joining fanpop again. There is a good chance moderators will xóa 100% of your content and strip your huy chương and caps, as well.

If your buddy was banned, please do not bother to contact us. There was a very good reason, and saying "he was really nice to me" really means nothing. Even criminals are nice to some people. Giving a moderator attitude will be bad for everyone, and bạn won't be helping your friend's case.

The good news is that 99% of the users here are great people and not causing problems. Be cool and courteous with one another, report trolls immediately, WITH LINKED EVIDENCE, and every time WITHOUT responding to them, and, together, we'll purge them from fanpop once and for all.

Hey everyone,

I felt like nghề viết văn about the constant reposting of các biểu tượng from livejournal, because I have become a very active lj user in the past months and I know of many lj people who are annoyed as hell to see their các biểu tượng đã đăng here.

First of all I'd like to say that I did it too. Yes, I took các biểu tượng that were đã đăng on livejournal and đã đăng them here with credit.
Now bạn might say: Okay, but if people credit them, why is there a problem? It's not as if the lj people own the original pictures they icon.
This is of course true, but I think it is thêm about respect and being polite.

To like hoặc not to like? That is the question.

Earlier tonight, the ratings system of fanpop experienced a massive overhaul. No longer can bạn rate content on a scale of one to five (ala YouTube), but if bạn like content, bạn can "like" it (ala Facebook), hoặc "be a fan" of it.

Dave gave a very good, logical explanation for the change to help assuage some fears and answer some questions:

"Hi Guys,

Thanks for making this pick. There are a lot of reasons we wanted to create a new system for deciding whether những người hâm mộ like something hoặc not. We found that most people were rating either 4 hoặc 5 stars so we thought...

If you must promote a club, try these tips.
Re-reading the various các bài viết about promoting các câu lạc bộ on Fanpop, it occurred to me that some fairly basic ideas were missing for promoting the các câu lạc bộ bạn like (not just the ones bạn create, but any các câu lạc bộ bạn enjoy).

Many of the trước đó etiquette các bài viết and diễn đàn threads have described things to avoid in promoting a club, as well as suggestions for things to do. For once, I'm not going to rant about undesirable behavior (that's the plan, anyway), but just keep the focus on other things những người hâm mộ can try to promote their yêu thích clubs. I hate those darned internet predators, don't you?
I just logged onto fanpop about a half giờ cách đây and discovered something extremely profane and inappropriate on the YouTube spot. Due to it's heavily pornographic material, the video was deleted shortly thanks to several reports from some handy fellow Fanpoppers.

It was đã đệ trình bởi a user of the name bon8699. I reported this user 3 times and I expect him to be banned for a long, long time.

The reason I am so annoyed that this was đã đệ trình is that this is not some pornography site. And this is most certaintly not NewGrounds, where bạn can đệ trình hình ảnh like this as much as bạn please without...

I swear to whatever higher power bạn believe in that I am going to injure someone with all the shoddy spelling going around. Yes abbreviations are easier (in a sense) but it looks like a 5 năm old wrote it and a lot of people don't understand it. So lets first go over some abbreviations that we should cut out of our vocabulary here at fanpop when bạn post content...

u = you
r = are
srs = serious
2 = to hoặc too (using it as "two" is fine)
plz = please

If bạn actually take that .5 of a một giây to type the whole word people will look at your content, bình luận and such a lot thêm and with nicer comments...

I am not here to lecture bạn yet again on bức ảnh crediting. I am done with that.

I am way past the lecturing and into downright grrrrrr-ville.

bạn already know full well that taking something bạn did not create and not giving full credit to the owner is theft. Your excuses mostly boil down to laziness at this point.

So.

This is my public notice that any and all hình ảnh with no credit to the original owner of the image will be rated harshly no matter how great the picture is... hoặc how much I normally like you.

Additionally, if there is a blatant Copyright notice right there on the damn picture and bạn still failed to credit the owner, I'm reporting it to fanpop -and- notifying the owner of the image that bạn lấy trộm, đánh cắp it.

Enough is enough.

Right, well the tiêu đề is a bit sarcastic. The whole "trolling" thing is sorta annoying me that having a low rate on something HAS to mean bạn were trolled...well maybe there's a different reason. I'll break it up to why that might not have been a trolling...

Soapboxes
- Did bạn use proper grammar? Check your spelling
- What's a paragraph? Learn how to use paragraphs properly to make your soapbox formatted and not look like a 1 ngôi sao article
- They may not agree hoặc think your opinion is totally outrageous...not a trolling

- Would bạn like that quality of a picture? Try and avoid small and bad...

Yes, I am fired up again over another issue of cruelty here on Fanpop... specifically the practice of passing judgment on other users.
Let's face it, we do not know each other personally, and for the most part none of us have ever met in real life. I think it is cruel and sad that people find it necessary to try to judge the intentions hoặc actions of others. How could anyone possibly judge another person hoặc their actions without knowing them personally hoặc knowing the things they are going through. bạn could not possibly say what bạn would do in their situation without...

Okay, I don't know if it's just coincidence but I noticed this week that some picks just are, I don't quite know how to describe it, bad.

It just seems that a lot of picks are asked so that they are asked, a lot of them don't have pictures. (that's not very important but I can't help noticing)
But the worst thing is that there are so many typos in the questions. Look, my English is not very good, I make a lot of mistakes but al least I try to make as less as possible. I mean, a lot of các câu hỏi are just so wrong, the 'preview' thing that bạn get when you've finished making your pick is there...

A few phút cách đây I thought of a partial answer to the gần đây outbreak of internet trolls we've had over the last few moths.

Ladies and Gentlepoppers, I introduce to you:

The ATSOF (The Anti Troll Squad Of Fanpop)
This will be a society of fanpoppers who work together to justly rate any content which has (without reason) been rated low.

My plan is to make an ATSOF Spot; if a spot hoặc particular piece of content has been rated low bạn can alert the ATSOF spot about this and some of the "fans" of the spot will head over to the content and rate the content fairly, therefore boosting the rating.

Please tell me what bạn think; I don't want to create a Ghost-Spot-to-be

If we make a new spot we want to make it popular. Recently I made a new spot so when I wanted to send a message to all my Những người bạn about it I got tired of typing individual messages so I quit. So we should be able to send one message to all our Những người bạn at the same time if necessary. Also there should be an area that says "new spots" on the trang chủ page so that people can see what has been recently created and if they want to tham gia the particular spot. It would really make the people who created the spots happy because they could get some good publicity.

bởi the way I made a new spot about Kal Penn, the indian guy from the van wilder movies, Harold and Kumar go to white castle, and Epic Movie.

So if u like those phim chiếu rạp check it out. all bạn have to do is type "Kal Penn" in the tìm kiếm engine" (obviously, I know)

Also this soapbox was ment for the fanpop spot

Hello to everyone,
my name is Inès, and I'm French.

As a lot of bạn know, Paris has been attacked yesterday bởi terrorists. The buổi hòa nhạc hall "Le Bataclan" has been attacked during a concert.

128 dead and thêm than 200 wounded are for now counted. This is a tragedy.

I was born and I've lived in Paris, and I often go there and to the Bataclan to attend concerts, and seeing this, is just awful. The whole country is shocked and desperate.

3 national days of mourning have been declared.

I invite bạn to leave a few words, thoughts for the victims of this disaster.

Thank bạn <3
