The concept of the điểm thưởng is wonderful. fanpop is a user based site and users should have the ability to reward others for their hard work. I also agree with the idea behind điểm thưởng Day. It should serve as a reminder to all users to give that reward. However, the điểm thưởng system has become flawed. Very flawed. I happened upon a user thông tin các nhân and saw several props. I looked to see when the user started Fanpopping and saw that it had only been two months. Wow! This person must have added tons of content. So I looked at the activity. No đường dẫn had been added, no videos, no hình ảnh (mind you, the thông tin các nhân had 5 các điểm thưởng for images), no diễn đàn activity, no picks, no câu hỏi kiểm tra các câu hỏi and one comment. This person had a total of 19 các điểm thưởng and the only activity was one comment. How could this be possible? I then looked at the individual props. Mainly they đã đưa ý kiến welcome to Fanpop, thanks for fanning me, and the like. I’m sorry; các điểm thưởng should be a reward for adding content, preferably quality content, to the site. I don’t blame the user, but I blame the Fanpoppers who give các điểm thưởng without a reason. If bạn want to thank someone for being a người hâm mộ of yours hoặc giving bạn a điểm thưởng send that person a nice message. Look at their activity and if they have added some good content, then give them a điểm thưởng for that content.

I probably should not be as frustrated as I am. After all, these people are enjoying the site and having fun. They’re not hurting me…or anyone else. It’s just the principle of the matter. The thông tin các nhân I mentioned as an example is not the only one like that. I have encountered many similar profiles where the users have các điểm thưởng for categories in which they have added nothing to the site. I work very hard, as I’m sure most Fanpoppers do, to provide good content. I’ve been on fanpop for a năm longer than my example. I also have 5 các điểm thưởng for my images. However, as of today, I have added 175 hình ảnh where this person hasn’t added any. Am I bitter? Maybe. I’m not asking for people to give me các điểm thưởng either, I even feel guilty for receiving các điểm thưởng that I don't think I deserve, (rating my content would be nice though, wink, wink, nudge, nudge). Perhaps the Fab Four could add another điểm thưởng category, an “I just wanted to say thanks and brighten your day” category. Then Fanpoppers could give that điểm thưởng indiscriminately. Until that time, however, I ask that Fanpoppers give các điểm thưởng to users as a reward for the actual content they have added.

I was quite shocked bởi the changed look of Fanpop, it looks as if it were Facebook, I have nothing against a few changes, banner designs? okay I would be fine with that, no thêm Icons? I would be fine with that too. But changing the whole site is a little much, don't bạn think? Not that theres anything wrong with it, but I do believe that I joined Fanpop, not Facebook. All I'm saying is that I believe this change was much to sudden, rushed if bạn would like. Thats all I'm trying to say, I don't want to be reported for this, so please understand that this is just my opinion. Tell me what bạn think of the new Fanpop.

Ratings. They sound good in theory. What better way to know how good content is? Unfortunately, the reality is far, far different:

Trolls - We've all seen them. They rate things a one, just because they can.

Non-Raters - There is a LOT of awesome content on fanpop that goes unrated.

Friends and Enemies - Những người bạn get high ratings. Enemies get low ratings. It happens.

Rating Unfairly - People dish out 1-star ratings to hình ảnh and video containing characters/pairings they don't support.

Rating the Uploading Process - Content gets rated based on HOW it was uploaded instead of the quality of the actual...

This section of my guide for fanpop users details the ratings system and was last edited on 26 May 2008.

As with any web site, fanpop is only as good as its content. Some content - what I think of as the soul of the site - is generated bởi users in the fora and in các bình luận on the rest of the content and cannot be rated. But the rest of the content - the body of the site - has a ratings system. The whole principle of the ratings system is a democratic one: if enough people vote, the really qualified items rise to the top. That's why everything that can be rated can be sorted in a danh sách from highest...
