or: "Basic information about removing your account"

Special thanks to link, our fanpop guinea pig. (or should I say lab rat?)

Removing your own account is a pretty new feature, many people may not be aware of it yet.
If bạn go to Edit Profile and scroll all the way down, you'll find:
If you'd like to remove your account, click here.

Now what does this mean?

If bạn xóa your account, bạn must know that:
Your contributions will not be deleted.

All your images, links, comments, diễn đàn posts, tường posts, các câu trả lời remain on fanpop, tiếp theo to your username.
If bạn click on that tên người dùng however, bạn will be redirected to the fanpop main page.

The spots bạn created are not affected. If bạn create a spot, bạn always create it for everyone, it's not like you're the Queen of this spot.
You are the Queen of the spot when bạn have a red medal on đã đưa ý kiến spot (just kiddin ;])

For future spot icon/banner changes on your spot the F4 can be messaged.

What I đã đưa ý kiến also makes very clear, that
(a) bạn can not make a new account with the name of a deleted account since the name actually remains on fanpop- just the thông tin các nhân of it is gone.
(b)there's probably a chance to get your deleted account back if bạn made a mistake.
I think the powerful F4 could do it for bạn ;)
Just like they unban users from time to time.

I hope this information was accurate, if not, let me know. Happy account removing ;)

Ratings. They sound good in theory. What better way to know how good content is? Unfortunately, the reality is far, far different:

Trolls - We've all seen them. They rate things a one, just because they can.

Non-Raters - There is a LOT of awesome content on fanpop that goes unrated.

Friends and Enemies - Những người bạn get high ratings. Enemies get low ratings. It happens.

Rating Unfairly - People dish out 1-star ratings to hình ảnh and video containing characters/pairings they don't support.

Rating the Uploading Process - Content gets rated based on HOW it was uploaded instead of the quality of the actual...

This section of my guide for fanpop users details the ratings system and was last edited on 26 May 2008.

As with any web site, fanpop is only as good as its content. Some content - what I think of as the soul of the site - is generated bởi users in the fora and in các bình luận on the rest of the content and cannot be rated. But the rest of the content - the body of the site - has a ratings system. The whole principle of the ratings system is a democratic one: if enough people vote, the really qualified items rise to the top. That's why everything that can be rated can be sorted in a danh sách from highest...

 Tip No. 2 in action!
Tip No. 2 in action!
Have bạn ever wanted to act like a total jerk on Fanpop? Piss people off, lose your fans, drive everyone crazy, and maybe even get banned, bạn just weren’t sure how? Here’s a handy guide on how to do exactly that!

1. Disrespect other people’s opinions. Yeah, bạn think that band XYZ sucks and bạn wouldn’t touch one of their CD’s with a ten-foot pole, and you’re going to assume that everyone on the planet shares your sentiment. Who cares if some people might not appreciate bạn going on about how the lead singer looks like a bald gorilla and sings like a cat throwing up? They should...

So we, as users, take a lot from fanpop every day. We watch videos, we take quiz's, share awesome links, etc. We all have gained something from Fanpop, whether it be a funny video, hoặc a cool new website. So I was thinking that perhaps maybe once a month, if even that, a mass majority (as many users we can get) would all add one thing. Whether it be a video, a quiz, a soapbox, hoặc even just a link, we would all be giving back. I was thinking that it could be the first of every month. Maybe even a time could be assigned to that date, which would allow other users to get to know each other and thread the community together. Perhaps at Four PM EST, we would all add something to Fanpop. I know many of bạn add items everyday but this would let less-contributing users thoughts be heard. These users could become hooked on fanpop and then that's +1 thêm dedicated fan. I don't know if this would take off, but if it does, it could be great. Please just leave a comment.

Just a few of the hundreds
Just a few of the hundreds
After creating my link spot and noting the severe lack of members, curiosity got me to searching for spots on fanpop that only had a single member (generally, their creator).

I came across spots that were months old and still only had a single member such as Chel's link spot, harold's link spot, hoặc berly's link spot. And I thought to myself, these spots were created to meet other những người hâm mộ and yet there appeared to be no other những người hâm mộ of these topics on all of fanpop? Ridiculous! Or... maybe it's true.

Some of the one-fan spots seemed very obscure (to me, at least), so it's quite possible that there...
