 "Huh ...I Won?"
"Huh ...I Won?"
Hi guys, I just wanted to put a few words together in appreciation of winning the người hâm mộ Of The năm title. I'm still really bemused bởi it, and honestly do not really understand "why" I won this.
Firstly, thank bạn so very much to everyone that voted for me and also for the many nice các bình luận that were added. Secondly,I'd like to say that I was up against some of the most significant and được ưa chuộng users on this site. To be classified in the same league as users like Cinders, chel1395 and amazondebs is a pretty big honour. All participants in the FOTY were, of course, very deserving but these few users I've named are the cream of the crop!
So, it was very surprising to see as the December days went bởi that I was in the hàng đầu, đầu trang bracket as the sự bỏ phiếu came in. Finally, a couple of days cách đây the phiếu bầu ended in a tie between ClassicalNadia and myself. Now, that was truly amazing. ClassicalNadia is one of the most awesomest of contributors and very much liked bởi all users. She is also a lovely young girl who always makes complimentary các bình luận and her kind nature and sweet character really comes though in her các bình luận and her messages.
We needed a tie-breaker so away we went for further voting...
The results of the poll, with me being the winner, did sincerely shock me. Words cannot hiển thị properly the sincerity of my feelings but I was very, very much surprised that I would end up with the FOTY 2008 title.
I've been on fanpop less than a năm (it will actually be a năm on the 29th January)and okay I do contribute quite a bit. Hey, but so do many, many others users. If I do spend hours and hours on here it is also due to the fact that I am on the dial-up system and therefore it takes me a lot longer than someone who is on broadband. But that does not take away from the many users that do also spend countless of hours on the site, submitting great quality content.
The astonishment in winning the FOTY is also partly due to my age. Yes, I do truly believe that the age factor is quite relevant. Not so much because I'm about a quarter of a century older than most of the users, but because my age DOES play a significant part in the kind of content I đệ trình to the site.
I've just turned 45-year-old and as many of bạn will know I'm immersed in Cô vợ phù thủy - a 45-year-old ti vi series about a witch. I'm a grown woman totally fixated on a fictious witch to the point that she uses her icon, her khẩu hiệu and makes các bình luận as it she's Samantha herself. That is bizarre - if I do say so myself, lol.
When I'm not uploading every Cô vợ phù thủy picture on the net onto the Cô vợ phù thủy spot, I'm submitting other vintage content. hoặc as my 19-year-old daughter terms it: old crap!
Yet, the amazing thing is that the young users always seem to make nice các bình luận on my stuff. I understand the users in my age bracket (there are a few of us dinosaurs, lol) liking the thêm vintage content but when a 14-year-old gives me a điểm thưởng and calls me 'awesome' for some 50-year-old poster I've đã đệ trình then that is very gratifying and honouring to me.
Everyone here is so nice which is why I think this site is so highly regarded bởi it's users. I've always been made to feel very welcomed and at trang chủ bởi everyone here. Of course, I do have my favourite set of users (ah, bạn guys know who bạn are!!) but there is not one user that I can say I do not like hoặc respect. Okay, I lie ... there is one user that I now have absolutely no regard for whatsoever. But I refuse to speak ill of the "dead" so I'll say no thêm on that.
Users also đã đưa ý kiến in their các bình luận that I'm a very nice person. I don't really know that I am "very" nice but I certainly do not go out of my way to be nasty to anyone. Having đã đưa ý kiến that, if my activity was to be thoroughly checked I'm sure a few bitch-like các bình luận can be found though, lol.
I also think it is only fair (or maybe it is stupid?!)to share with bạn guys that although I am a redhead, I do have extreme "blonde" episodes.
Some of bạn might be familiar with the fact that yours truly sent DarkSarcasm a congratulatory message on her "pregnancy" a few months ago. This shameful blunder came about after đọc a little joke bởi Spotty_Vision21.
However, only a few weeks cách đây I really outdid myself in the "blonde" department.
I emailed johnminh, and when I email users I like to use their real names. I wasn't sure if John was his real name (I'm still not) so I went to his profile. For those of bạn who are not familiar with the name on johnminh's profile, it is Neko-Chan. Okey dokey, I thought, sounds Asian. So, I emailed the guy and actually queried if that was his REAL name. *hits self on the head for the 100th time!* I have to say that in johnminh's reply he did not address that query.
However, I'm not sure if he just thought I was joking hoặc was too gracious to tell me what an idiot I was. I have since (of my own accord) became aware of what Neko-Chan is - just thought I'd add this bit for your information. Perhaps I should have realized that someone who says they live somewhere between Mars and Venus would not be named Neko-Chan. Okay, so I'm a dummy and now bạn guys know the kind of người hâm mộ you've really voted for. Sorry!
I'd also like to add my congratulations to germany123 who won Popper Of The năm 2008 - a very deserving winner!
And last, but certainly not least, a big thank to the F4 for consuming nearly a năm of my dreary life with their awesome fansite.
Happy New năm to all and let's make 2009 a fantastic Fanpopping year!

The câu hỏi on all of your minds, I'm sure. Certainly, you're not asking the câu hỏi "Who the blast is Cinders?!" Because I am awesome and bạn should know the answer to that already.

I have been consistently Fanpopping in some way shape of form since May 2007 (over five years now) but unfortunately I'm afraid I may have to take a break. I just didn't want to go the way of devoted fanpoppers before me, who were awesome and then dropped off the face of the planet with no notice.

This is no grand goodbye, no trumpeted announcement telling everyone how bored hoặc fed up I've become with Fanpop. I...

I'l tell thee what, I'm sick of this!
Anyone notice the severe amount of hate floating round the site lately?

I have. And it sickens me. I've stayed silent in the past. I've tried to treat other users with respect. I've được trao people the benefit of the doubt.

No more.

The amount of 'hate' spots, anti-fan spots, picks insulting other users- people, need I remind bạn that this 'Fan'pop. Look it up in the dictionary. F-A-N. bạn see the word 'anti' hoặc 'hate' anywhere? I hate Smurfs, do bạn see me making an Anti-Smurf spot?
I dislike Smurfs, but do bạn see an Anti-Smurf spot anywhere?

I joined the ranks back in April. I was just a kid then. A noob, is what some would say. Everything was calm at first but after a few months it got rough. When I joined, we had videos, forums, comments, images, links, and soapboxes. Nothing too fancy. But once the picks came in, it was hell. Users swooped in left and right making picks that were ngẫu nhiên and completely off topic. I didn't know what to do. It was happening so fast. I got scared so I ran. I was a nobody so no one noticed when I left. I started training so that I could come back and I would be ready.

A few weeks later I was back....

Many of my soapboxes focus on me, myself and I. Some of bạn may not enjoy it. Others may find it repetitive. To you, I say, P*** Off. Its cheaper than therapy.

Todays Soapbox contains a little life story:

Be careful of the way bạn treat others- it could be harmful.

Let me elaborate...

I work as a volunteer youth leader in a small community. We meet every 2nd Friday in a local GAA (Gaelic Athletics Association)hall. The club runs for any 12-18 năm olds attending secondary school that are living in the surrounding area.

I came up through the ranks of this austere association. I started at 12 as a...

Hello, fellow fanpop users! Today, 1st January 2021, marks the 10th anniversary of the ngày I myself became a fanpop user. And, seeing as I've stuck around after all this time, becoming a Fanpopper clearly was a decision I did not regret.

As of right now, I am currently a member of 778 fanpop spots, have đã đệ trình over 25,000 contributions across the website, voted in thêm than 18,000 picks and written over 8,000 comments. Throughout my time here I have gone through my active and inactive phases (often depending on what else is going on in real life) and, every time I've come back on here after...

I realised lately I was becoming a tad too whiny for my tastes about the little things on fanpop that bug me, maybe it's because I seemed to tham gia just in time to see fanpop at it's most awesome, then watch it's mild de-awesoming. The site still rocks, but there are some little things being done that I'm not crazy about, so in the spirit of self improvement (or a thinly veiled excuse to complain) I'm going to get them off my chest, as well as listing the solutions to these problems that my angry brain has been suggesting.

1. People making spots for themselves.
It's one thing when a được ưa chuộng user...

Medal whores are users that use fanpop to get medals, I do tình yêu getting huy chương I have to admit although I don't have many.

I have now changed my attitude towards medals, I used to try to get them but know it is becoming less of an interest to me. This is because of medal whores, some make fake accounts, add unnecessary stuff to spots and then rate there contributions themselves. I think it is very unfair on other users and it use to really annoy me - It still does a bit.

Anyway I know this annoys other users too but just think medal whores are sad enough to make fakes just to get a red dot on...
