What is with the Melody hype?

And individual struggle? It was exactly the same struggle Ariel had, just the other way around, nevermind that her version made no sense at all...

We shouldn't forget that Ariel and Melody lived in a different time periode and their situations were different. Ariel had thêm knowledge on the human world because she collected the information about it presumably for years judging from the enormous amount of things in her collection, and her father was negatively prejudiced against the human world because he believed it was a terrible and awful place and never considered changing his attitude even though his prejudices were heavily generalized. Ariel and Eric on the other hand tried to protect Melody from a defined threat that was Morgana, but they never had any sorts of prejudices against the sea world, in fact, Ariel still felt a connection to it and loved it but had to cut all ties for the sake of her daughter's safety. And the situation seemed really confusing for Melody because where Triton at least made it seem like he had a point despite his judgement being misguided, it was extremely hard for Melody to understand where exactly were her parents coming from. Ariel wanted to be a part of the human world, Melody wanted to know the truth, I believe those things were largely different.

The only thing different is that Triton had undertandable reasons for diễn xuất the way he did....with Melodie, it would have been resonable to tell her that an evil seawitch is out to kill her. Ariel was faced with a realistical generation conflict, Melodie with a contrived problem that would never happen in real live, because people are not THAT stupid and a secret can't be kept for that long if so many people are involved. The whole movie is just lazy and as useless as most of the other Disney sequels...and not one single one of them is a good movie.

Not sure if it would have been appropriate to tell a 12 năm old kid that an evil sea witch is out to get her and THAT's the reason why she should stay away from the sea. If anything, it would have triggered Melody's curiousity even further which was not something Ariel hoặc Eric wanted. Melody and Ariel never had a generation conflict because both Eric and Ariel were bởi far thêm liberal/accepting parents than Triton when it comes to pretty much everything OTHER than a defined and concrete threat that could put their daughter's life in danger, however, Melody's struggle was not with her parents but with the lack of understanding WHY she feels different and why everyone considers her a freak. I do agree that the storyline could have been much better written though, but for a sequel I feel like it was a very decent movie.

Sequel hoặc not, every movie should be a good movie...just because sequels normally aren't, they have no right to be bad. hoặc to recycle the storyline from the first movie (never mind that the âm nhạc is mostly horrible, the side characters are obnoxious, "Ursula's evil Sister" a nonsensical rewrite and countless plotholes in the whole thing. Just because Disney did even worse in other movies, this one isn't good bởi any stretch of imanigation.

I agree that the villian wasn't original hoặc amazing and the story indeed lacked depth on many levels, however, it doesn't mean it's impossible to enjoy Melody for what she was even if she wasn't completely original. I tình yêu Pocahontas but I don't think she brings anything new to the bàn and I like Belle to an extent but I don't find her original hoặc refreshing. With Melody I can appreciate her passion and her outsider struggle even if similar issues were already addressed in other movies.

I agree with Swanpride. I like Melody but I too agree that the sequel's storyline needs A LOT of improvement. Sequels can be good-they just need to have a well-written plot. Not to mention that the villian, Morgana is a wuss. Seriously, Morgana is a small ocean wave to Ursula's Tsunami.
