Damon’s POV
I walked into the bar somewhere in the middle of no where. It wasn’t busy, basically what I suspected to be the ‘regulars’. I’d been driving all ngày and this was my first stop. I went up to the bar.

“I don’t know what to do with her – she’s playing me and my best friend,” I couldn’t understand why this was so easy to tell to a stranger.
The man chuckled. “Same thing happened to me before. I just ended up with the girl,” He winked.

“What do I tell her when I go back,” My voice sounded lifeless.

“And what if she doesn’t feel the same way?”
“If she’s got bạn this messed up, she feels something.”
“She cares, I know she does – hoặc she wouldn’t keep coming back. But she loves Stefan.”

“You can’t go back to wherever tonight, too many beers. Stay here, I’ve got a room in the back reserved for special visitors like you. Not too shabby, promise.”
I took a deep breath and shrugged. “Why not,” I said.
I followed the man back to my temporary bedding room. It wasn’t bad – just not what I was used to. A few deer heads with at least ten point antlers hung on the walls. The cot was feasible, at least I had something. I was grateful I wasn’t going to have to sleep in my truck.
“Don’t worry about any charges, I’ve got bạn covered.”
“Thank you, sir. For everything,” I called as he left the room and shut the door.
He’d sure được trao me a lot to think about, at the least. As I lay down on the cot, I thought of her. Was she with Stefan, still? Had she gone to try and find me? That’s what I would hope for. I could hope she had found my note, and I knew that when I got home, my hopes would be useless. The house would be empty and just as I left it – the note still intact.
Just as I was falling asleep, my phone buzzed. I picked it up, and had a new voicemail. I decided to check it, hoping it was her, just so I could hear her voice.
“Damon, please, come home. I swear that as soon as bạn get back that I’ll figure out what to do. I need bạn hear – I have got to explain everything to you. It’s not what bạn think, please come trang chủ soon. I need you. I miss you.”
I only slept an giờ that night.
Elena’s POV
I don’t know how long I was there. When I woke up, it was already dark again. I didn’t want to leave – my conscious was telling me that I was going to make excuses to stay until he finally showed.
I called his phone one last time, maybe he would pick up – it was worth a shot. He didn’t answer, but I got bold enough to leave him a voicemail. “Damon, please, come home,” I pleaded. I told him that I would make my decision when he got here; I needed him with me when I broke someone’s heart. It would be easier with him back where he needed to be.
After the phone call, I wrapped myself back up in his covers and tried not to think about anything.
