Tomoyo After ~It's a Wonderful Life~ (English translation)

So as bạn may hoặc may not know, Visual Art's Key produced an "after story" for Sakagami Tomoyo called Tomoyo After.
This VN was created quite a while back, but recently, an English translation was completed bởi Doki subs. Now the game is not 100% flawless there are minor errors that may hoặc may not be fixed in later patches. bạn can learn thêm about them link.

This is a tutorial for installing the game on a Windows system. Doki has created patches for Mac and Linux users, but I do not own those systems and will not be able to provide help for those system users.

Before I begin, this is an 18+ game. In other words, there are NSFW scenes (typical of Key games). If bạn are not comfortable with such content, this is not the game for you.

Now let's begin.

These are the programs that bạn will need (the đường dẫn are download đường dẫn for programs that I recommend):
-a bittorrent client (link)
-some program that can extract .rar files (link)
-some program that can read .iso files (link)

Step 1:
Change the language setting set on your pc.
The game is completely Japanese, so the file names are Japanese as well. If we try to install it, the file names will end up as weird symbols and we might get errors. The instructions for changing the language settings are link.

Step 2:
Download the game and English patch.

Step 3:
Once bạn have all the files downloaded extract the files from the .rar file. bạn will get two files: a .iso file and a .mds file. Open the .iso file.

Step 4:
We will now start the game installation.
A window should have shown up.

Press the buttons I have boxed in the images.

Choose the folder where the game will be installed.

A window should pop up with the options "yes" hoặc "no". Press "yes".

There are 3 buttons. Press the one on the right to exit. The middle button is to start the game, but everything will be in Japanese if we start it now.

Step 5:
Now the patching begins. Run the English patch that bạn downloaded.

Make sure, if bạn changed where the game is downloaded, that bạn choose that same folder to patch.

Patch complete, your game is now in English.

No shortcut is made in the process, so you'll have to go to the folder bạn installed the game to.
Most likely it will be in C:\KEY\智代アフター.
Run the REALLIVE.exe to start the game. There's also a cute chịu, gấu biểu tượng in the folder. bạn can replace the plain .exe file biểu tượng with the chịu, gấu icon.

jeongjun I have no idea, but this is the official forum for game errors. http://forums.fansub.co/index.php?topic=822.0 You'll probably have the most luck solving your problem there.

beepinhiemer i open the iso file and it says "mounting image", but then it disappears and nothing happens after.

jeongjun The installation window should popup. You should try manually starting the iso by starting Daemon tools and running the iso file from there. If that doesn't work, something might have gone wrong when downloading the file and the file is corrupted. Try downloading the file again. I just tried re-downloading the iso file so there's nothing wrong with the file itself.

jeongjun The patch file works fine. Try re-downloading it. When you click the patch file a window with the title Tomoyo After English Patch Setup should pop up.

jeongjun I've actually never tried the game yet so I have no idea, but considering how the translation is "completed" I would expect any Japanese script to be translated.

bobbydinner So, I've done everything that you told me to do, menu was translated, game ran smoothly, but when the subtitles of Tomoyo speaking started to pop up, it was just gibberish, not even Japanese. Any advice?

jeongjun Okay so patch v1.1 is up. The Dungeons & Takafumis is fully translated now. You should be aware that save files from v1.00 aren't completely compatible with the v1.10. @bobbydinner I try and find what you're problem might be.

bobbydinner So, should I just re-download it and see what happens?

jeongjun That'll probably the best option. I can't find any solutions to your problem. Make sure your language settings are set to Japanese as well.

narutomath96 Can I ask you a question ? please? Uhm.... I have a probblem ... I have followed all of your instructions and I can go to REALLIVE.exe , but after that, a font box appeared and I chose one (MS Gothic).... After that, the text " Error ... can not format the text" ......... I don't understand... Please help me, .... and do I have to download Microsoft Visual C++ ???? Oh my god ........

jeongjun Okay, so does the font box pop up immediately after you start reallive.exe? You don't see the 18+ warning, key logo, game start up? Or are you trying to change the font through the game system options. If you're trying to change the font, don't. It'll mess up the text. Either way since you already got the error once, uninstall and reinstall the english patch. If the font box appears again just press cancel or ok. narutomath96 I have un-installed and re-installed the English patch, and I start Reallive.exe , but it appeared "Error ....... unable to format the text" again ... :( I'm sorry, I don't know what I was wrong ... Can you see the problem for me ? Do I have to re-download all the things ? :(

Zackrow hmm , i finished the install and its working , but i have 1 question sir .. If i changed back the Language to English is it affect the game ?? or should i change to Japanese language first when i want to play it??

jeongjun You need it on Japanese to make the game work. If you have your language on English, it'll show a black screen when you start it. @narutomath96 Sry it took a while but try installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package: 32 bit: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5555 64 bit: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=14632 If this doesn't work you might just be missing the font ms gothic, so check your fonts folder which is in C:\Windows\Fonts

theone888 I did everything you said, but when I start it up it freezes when it shows the message "This is a work of fiction...." and I can't do anything, it just freezes. Help?
