Both. Angel was her first. Something special... whereas Spike was a growing feeling someone she grew to love deeply. She loved both... they both offered her so much and gave so much.

My thoughts came apawn when the final Season came along. The two epsiodes that I last watched were End of Days & Chosen. When Angel already knew that Buffy was in love with Spike. Buffy was explaining all of her relationships with Angel. I mean I felt for her from all thoses heartbreaking moments with her other boyfriends. To me i think Angel & Spike are the top guys that Buffy had feelings. Spike was deeper in Buffy's heart. Angel gave her opporuntiy to get her life back just regular teenager and a slayer.

Spike was always there for all the time. Both the times I saw Buffy & Spike they were there all the time. Unlike Angel when first met Buffy he realizes Buffy needs someone to show her many things to understand her destiny as the slayer and love. Spike showed her that. Thats why I choose Spike. Spike was the most emotional,sensitive,feeling vampire . Angel was more soulful but doesn't understand his Destiny a vampire with soul. Spike understood his consequences that he had done his times as William the Bloody.

Spike although I thinks he loved them bith but I think in the end she loved Spike more.They are so many exampales of women who love two man but choose the one they love more.I think in the end Buffy choose Spike because she loved him more than she loved Angel.

I definitely think she had deep feelings for both of them. They each had such a profound impact on her life, and helped and cared for her so much. Personally, I believe that she had stronger feelings for Angel than she had for Spike, but that is not to say that she didn't care for Spike. It is obvious that she did, and the interaction between them in season 7 is great. I don't agree that Buffy chose Spike over Angel in the last episode though. She admitted that she "couldn't risk" Angel's life, but she was willing to risk Spike's, and she made it clear that if she was ever ready for a long term relationship, it was Angel that she wanted to share that with. She did care about Spike, and he was the guy in her life at the time, as much as anyone was, but Angel always will be and she made it clear that he was her 'forever' guy.

Buffy and Spike could never be "friends" and it was proven time and time again through season 7. That was, in fact, the main point. Even Joss admitted that the relationship Spuffy had in season 7 were "romantic and confusing" and it was a great way to describe it. The End of Days - Buffy herself admitted she was tired of mixed signals. She wanted to start a fresh with Spike and talk to him about her feelings, but he stopped her and made it clear that now it isn't the right time. "Maybe when..." - said Buffy, but Spike didn't let her finish. She clearly meant after the war. She was about to talk about it after the war. So when the time was up, Buffy told Spike about her love, finally.

Now, about her being "willing" to risk Spike. She was willing to risk Spike during this battle for the sake of the world just like she was willing to KILL Angel (and she did) at the end of season 2. It doesn't mean she didn't love them. But she was a slayer and had to put the world first, even if I don't necessarily agree with her on that. She loved both and cared deeply about both Angel and Spike, but at different points she was ready to sacrifice them and her feelings for them for greater good.
