Am I the only one who has noticed that in Supernatural, God is a classic narcissist, and Castiel demonstrates all the symptoms of being an adult child of a narcissist?

Traits of adult children of narcissists:

- Never feel good enough hoặc valuable enough
link

- Deeply afraid to speak up confidently hoặc challenge others
link

- Very attuned to what everyone around them is feeling, leading to an inability to protect themselves from other people’s emotions.
link

- Chronically unsure of themselves and overly-worried about what others think of them.
link

- Deeply insecure, and unable to believe that any tình yêu they receive is unconditional.
link

- The relationships they do form are deeply challenging.
link

- They feel used and beaten up bởi their work, their bosses, and their colleagues, and can’t understand why their careers are so challenged and difficult.
link

Sounds like someone we know, doesn’t it? ;)

Even Castiel’s flattened affect (something none of the other thiên thần demonstrate) could be explained bởi childhood trauma related to his unhealthy relationship with his “father.” ;)
link

Perhaps this is why Castiel and Dean have bonded so strongly. Dean’s father fits the narcissist prototype pretty well. Could be they recognize some of their own trauma in each other.

Anyway, that’s MY head canon. Hee. You’re welcome to yours. ^_^

Bonus observation:
If Castiel is God's son...
And humans are also God's children...
But demons are humans corrupted bởi Lucifer...
Who is also God's son...

That means that whenever Castiel and Crowley are working together, it's like when the oldest child leaves trang chủ and then has to come trang chủ for the holidays and has to play nice will these monster children his parents created after he left home. XD

“We should talk about what happened yesterday” Dean đã đưa ý kiến hoarse.
“I’m not sorry” Cas replied convincing.
“Neither am I” Dean sighed relieved. “But I have to admit that bạn took me bởi surprise. I didn’t see it coming. Besides, I thought bạn loved Meg”
Cas looked away and gazed through the window.
“Meg betrayed me. bạn were right about her. I should’ve listened to you” he admitted softly. He looked back at Dean. “I think one of the reasons I’ve been diễn xuất so…reckless…is because I didn’t know how to act on my feelings for you. Especially...

The tiếp theo morning.
Cas was sitting up, a bandage wrapped around his chest. The door opened and Dean walked in. The guard wanted to close the door again, when Cas called him.
“Sir, would bạn mind staying here? I’m worried about my safety” he said. “The intention is to keep me from going anywhere. Best way of doing that is to stay here, so I don’t climb a window hoặc something”
The guard went standing tiếp theo to the door, his arms crossed.
Dean pulled a chair and sat tiếp theo to the bed. “How are bạn feeling?”
“I’m still hurting a little” Cas admitted.
“Can bạn tell me what happened?”...

Dean parked the Impala as close to the local snack bar as possible. There was yellow tape around the building and the police and medical staff were there, too.
“Looks like we’re too late” Sam đã đưa ý kiến defeated. They got out of the car and walked towards the sealed building.
Dean held up his fake ID, as did Sam, when a cop blocked their way.
“Mind if we take a look?” Dean asked. The cop let them through and Dean and Sam stepped underneath the yellow tape. They walked inside the building and even though they were used to seeing dead people, what they walked into was still a lot to stomach....

Meg opened her eyes and looked at Sam an Dean, who were sitting at her bed. They were the last two people she had expected to see. She tried to sit up, but Sam gently pushed her down on the pillow.
“Don’t try to make any movements. You’re still a little weak” he said.
“I thought I was dead” Meg mumbled.
“You were close, but Anna healed you. She’s finally learned how to do it” Dean explained. He exchanged glances with Sam, before getting to the reason why they were there. “Meg, where is Cas?”
“I don’t know” Meg lied and she looked away.
“You were with him when he...

Cas walked inside the same café he had been the night he found out Meg was human, too. He looked around and noticed to his great delight that the same three men were sitting at the same bàn as last time he had seen them there.
He stared at them, until they felt it and turned their heads to him. He smirked as if he wanted to say: ‘Come and get me’
He turned around and left the café. The three men looked at the bartender. “Come on, he’s asking for it” one of them đã đưa ý kiến disbelieving. The bartender shot them a warning glance. He allowed it once, but not again.
“I will call the cops...

Cas and Meg reached the surface of the pool and Meg held her breath. She had forgotten how good Cas looked when he was all…wet. Cas took advantage of her inability to speak.
“I’m really sorry for everything I’ve đã đưa ý kiến to bạn today” he began. “I never meant to say those things. I was thinking something, but what came out was the exact opposite. And then Balthazar đã đưa ý kiến he and Kevin had put up a plan to kill bạn and I knew it was a setup, but I just had to come”
“Doesn’t matter” Meg đã đưa ý kiến fast. “Let’s get out of here” she suggested. She freed herself and swum to the edge,...

Jo and Meg were in Cas’ room, packing Cas’ bags. Meg threw all his stuff in the bags, but Jo pulled them out again.
“You have to fold them hoặc they’ll never fit in” Jo reproached her. Actually she was just trying to buy some time. “You know, I really thought something was going on between the two of you”
“Why? Because we both turned human at the same time? I hate him for that” Meg replied.
“I think bạn just hate the fact that bạn can’t shut off your emotions now” Jo đã đưa ý kiến wisely.
“Why are bạn doing this? I killed bạn and your mom. Why are bạn trying to help me?” Meg...

Cas opened his eyes and rolled them to left. Meg was sitting tiếp theo to his bed. He looked down and noticed he was holding something in his hand. He rolled his eyes to the right and saw the machines and the perfusion leading some kind of fluid medication into his veins. He frowned and tried to pull all threads out of his body.
“No, Cas, don’t do that” Meg tried to stop him. “You have to get better”
Meg didn’t understand. Medication hoặc drugs was what triggered it. He wasn’t himself when he took them.
Cas opened his mouth to explain, but something entirely different was said.
“Get...

Meg took a few deep breaths in order to remain calm, before she rang the chuông, bell on Heather’s door. This time her co-worker was dressed when she opened the door.
“Don’t tell me your friend is sick again” she đã đưa ý kiến as she let Meg in.
“Depends” Meg started vague. “He’s having a headache and he’s diễn xuất weird. Again. Still”
Heather shrugged. “Those are side effects. Every medicine has a side effect hoặc two” she explained careless.
“What did bạn give him?” Meg asked.
“Does it matter?” Heather commented, avoiding Meg’s look.
“He threatened to kill me if I didn’t...

Dean was sitting on a chair, tiếp theo to Cas’ hospital bed. There was only one visitor allowed and Sam and Dean had agreed to switch turns.
“Why are bạn so reckless?” Dean mumbled helpless.
The tiếp theo moment Cas sat up and gasped for air.
“Cas?” Dean đã đưa ý kiến and he stood up. He wanted to call a doctor when Cas took his hand.
“Am I alive?” he asked faint.
“Yeah” Dean nodded relieved. “You’re alive”
Cas closed his eyes and fell asleep.
A couple of hours later he woke up and saw he had company. Dean hadn’t left, and Sam, Jo, Ellen and Anna had joined him.
