My view of the haters is the same with the ending of BSG, in that its totally subjective to why you watched the show in the first place. If you watched it because you loved the characters, then you most likely loved the resolve to their stories. If you watched it solely for the mysteries, or you already hated it and just wanted to see if the end could justify the time spent watching it.....then you were probably a little pissed that the ending was left to interpretation, which is understandable.

Then there's the small group of illogical Atheists (ones that I personally think 'don't get it) who based their hate on the sole fact that the ending had religious ties. Considering I am a Atheist, I really don't understand this reaction at all. The writers and set designers went out of there way to show this was NOT JUST A CHRISTIAN ending, this was why every possible religious symbol was seen in the final scenes to indicate that this was an "afterlife" yes, but not for a specific religion. If I can appreciate this fact, I don't understand how others Atheists cannot.

I think that at least after a while everybody understood it. Then liking it or not comes to taste.
There are the ones that hated because they watched only for the mysteries and those didn't get closure. Others because their couple didn't end up together (and yes, those exist :O). Some Jack haters hated it because in their words "in the end it was all about Jack". I really think that now, over 2 months later there's no hate for not understanding

I don't agree. It wasn't all about Jack, but he was the main character so it's normal that the last episode was focused on him.

I'm usually a Jack hater, but even I could appreciate his relevance to the ending. What the island storyline eventually came down to was what was first introduced to us in the first season. "1 is light, 1 is dark" and that laid the stepping stones for the penultimate "man of science vs. Man of faith" showdown. The sideways flashes where used to represent the "letting go" of the characters emotional baggage, and we all know that Jack would be the last one to keep resisting this because he always had in the past. To expect anything less of Jack would have been a character inconsistency, and when the moment came for him to finally face what he was resisting, it was TRUELY BEAUTIFUL regardless if you liked him or not.

What Matthew Fox did with the ending to his character was beautiful (and again, I don't even like Fox) he finally allowed himself to stop fighting himself (Jacks biggest demon had always been JACK) and in doing this that was his "letting go. This message should transcend what ever fandoms you prefer and be realized for the beautiful character ending it was.

That's a possibility . But I think that the people that didn't like the end it's because of the endgame couples . Or at least most of them hate The End for that which I think it's pretty stupid . Because , the show wasn't all about the couples . In was about many other things which were more important than who was endgame or not .

Exactly. And NO, it's NOT about being pissed at the endgame couples. Yes, I may be unsatisfied with SKate not ending up together, but there is so much more to Lost than the couples and I really think it's quite ridiculous how many Jate & Suliet fans try to pass it off as "Oh, they didn't like the end? They must just be bitter SK fans!"

I think the fact that so many people, not just here on fanpop or other fansites, but critics etc WORLDWIDE have proclaimed how much of a crap ending it was, how so many people are disappointed in the amount of mysteries that were never cleared up [and there were way too many] it all further proves that this is NOT just a petty couple thing.

We all have our favorites, and everyone is WELCOME to defend their own. That's what makes a fanspot work. It would be boring to have people constantly agreeing on everything, its not much of a discussion if everything is one sided. However, where there always seems to be trouble (and again, this is not specific to you but to online communities in general) is when someone takes someone else's opinion as a PERSONAL ATTACK. This is when things get ugly, and in your case we never meant to verbally attack you.

If things are seriously bothering you in your real life, I suggest taking a break from a fansite and deal with those issues. Pent up anger and frustration always needs to go somewhere (or else we all would start murdering each other) and its better to talk these problems out, rather than taking your anger out on us because we had a different opinion than yours. Although I was expecting something different at the end, perhaps not so trivial as - the good one and the bad one and a mystical place where that bad one is being kept and there is someone who protects the world from the bad one, and protect the light form the rest of the world... I am smth. like happy that the ending was like this. After all that stress, disaster, sadness, misery, death etc. they all were able to be in peace (not like- dead, but they at last were able to stop worry about that all).

They could finally move to another dimension.
