It feels like bloody donkey\'s years since The Wanted boys were on the scene chanting \'oh-oh-oh-ooooh\' all over the shop and kicking off with One Direction a bit, doesn\'t it? But now Nathan Sykes - the second best thing to come out of Gloucester after double Gloucester cheese - is ready to ride S-O-L-O and chuck his new music in the direction of our lugholes.

Yup - Nathan\'s been hard at work in the studio since The Wanted\'s split, and now he\'s opened up about the band\'s break-up

what went wrong with former girlfriend Ariana Grande. Gah, so much goss.

Chatting to The Sun, Nathan spilled: "The time we broke up was really tough. The Wanted decided to take a break and I lost my grandad. I was not in the best place. She was my first grown-up relationship. But sometimes you have to go into a place like that to be able to find the best music out of it.

"The most emotional song is about me telling myself not to be angry at the break-up because sometimes things just don\'t work out. That\'s life." So does Ari know Nathan\'s panned a tune about her? "No. But it\'s important not to be selfish with writing so there\'s no detailed version of events. And there\'s no bad blood. She\'s a lovely girl.

"We split because of the long-distance thing. There was that amazing moment at the start of the relationship where we both convinced ourselves, \'Yeah, long distance won\'t matter. It will be fine\'. But it was impossible."
