Chapter One - Being Average
I thought today was going to be a cloudy, grey day. It would match my mood, but, as usual, it was sunny and blue. For one day, can it not be so perfect and beautiful. I am positive that the weather truly despises me. Everyone despises me.
Except for my best friend, Carlie. She must be the only one besides my mom who loves me and cares for me. She has been with me since I moved out here in Georgia. She must be the only one who can imagine what I'm going through. We both Mất tích our mothers. I guess that is how we became best friends.
"Beastly Brie, Beastly Brie," chanted my foster sister, Kira. She rollerbladed right bởi my door hát that awful song. That is how she wakes me up every day. I'm glad that she goes to middle school and not high school. I would die having both her and her sister with me in the same school.
"Briella, bạn have ten phút before I march up to your room and beat bạn with my spoon!" My foster mother, Beatrice, loves to yell. She loves yelling at me the most. I guess bạn could say that is a hobby of hers. "James will be trang chủ soon so bạn better leave!"
James is my foster father. He hates seeing me around the house which is why we try to stay out of each other's way. If I leave for school early and come trang chủ late, it is almost like I don't live here to him.
I threw on some ripped jeans, a vintage green tee, and my yêu thích black studded boots. All of my clothes come from neighbors who feel bad for me hoặc the thrift cửa hàng which is the only place I can afford. My foster family is rich but before I get a dime from them is when I turn 18. I'm 17.
I shuffled to the phòng bếp, nhà bếp with my wavy hair in a ponytail and grabbed the bánh mì nướng that popped from the toaster. The rest of the family eats in the dining room right tiếp theo door. They have a proper breakfast and talk about all things proper I guess. I am never invited to one of these breakfasts.
Without even saying bye to everyone, I walked outside to the sunny morning. God, I hate mornings.
I'm barely ten feet away from the estate when this guy on a skateboard skated right to me. I fell flat on my butt. He landed right tiếp theo to me and his skateboard, unfortunately, gots ran over bởi a two passing trucks.
"I am so sorry," I automatically said. I jumped on my feet and tried to help him up. He grabs my hand and together we lifted him off the ground. "Are bạn okay?"
The guy was chuckling and bởi now I fear that he suffered some brain damage. "What's so funny?"
"You," he đã đưa ý kiến as if I should have already known. "I just ran cái tát, đánh đập, smack into bạn and bạn are apologizing to me. bạn didn't do anything."
"Oh," I said, dumbfounded. "What about your skateboard?"
"I'll buy a new one." He shrugged his shoulders.
Then it hits me. It hits me like a tornado stampeding towards a house only giây away. This guy is handsome. His hair is blonde and curly which highlights the magnificence of his kind, brown eyes. If only bạn could see him. The way he smiled crookedly hoặc his shiny white teeth. He must be a god.
"What about you? Are bạn okay?" He waved a hand in my face to get my attention.
"Um, yeah," I đã đưa ý kiến awkwardly.
"Before I so rudely ran over you, where were bạn headed?"
"To school, Glynn Academy."
"What a coincidence. I was headed there too. We can walk together."
"Uh, I guess so, but I promised I would met my friend at her house. I'm probably already late."
I thought then he would leave me alone. It was really awkward having someone extremely hot stand bởi you, especially with me being average.
"Cool, I would tình yêu to meet her."
