Really hoping Castle is too easy to be the answer. But ultimately I’m terrified. If they break up Caskett, what the heck has been the point of everything up till now? It would be the final nail in the show’s coffin.

Yeah, the use of the phrase “DNA” basically just refers to the elements that make up a show, the things that make it work and click and run (character interactions, premise, setting, etc.). There may well be a playful hint in there, too, but I do agree that people are likely reading way too much into the use of those three letters here.

I love all the entitled people here ready to burn people alive her for daring to consider the possibility of a break up. Over half of marriages end in divorce… why should the ones you care about be invulnerable? You could just let the writers do their job and see how it goes rather than jumping to pitchfork conclusions.

THERE IS NO WAY THEY BREAK UP CASTLE! The show suffers in the ratings when Mr. and Mrs. Castle are not together, they would not resign both stars to kill a show then separate them. ABC will not throw money at the leads and risk losing syndication because they want to “change it up”. If want to look at all the facts they add up simply: 1.Beckett will not run for Senate because she will be pregnant.

2. She instead will take the Captains position at the 12th.

3. The girl will be her replacement because a pregnant Beckett cannot be in the field.

4. About halfway through the season she will rejoin Castle because she makes an edgy but moral choice, and they will get a new captain.

I predict that the blind item will one of three couples:

Avery and Juliette on Nashville, Juliette will completely self destruct, or Reyna and Deacon which would throw fans into a complete spiral. Or Special Agent Tim McGee and Delilah Feilding on NCIS. Tim will be crushed and I predict she will betray him and the team, changing his character.

It’s kind of funny because the one show I haven’t heard any speculation about is Beauty and the Beast. I don’t watch the show at all but its ratings are crap and the fan base is rabid about the leads being together, even more so than Castle fans. The only part that doesn’t necessarily fit is that it’s “aging”, although that could be somewhat of a red herring clue since each and every show is “aging” if they continue to be renewed.

Considering this probably will be (and should be) the last season of Bones, I don’t think it’ll be them. Plus why would they waste a blind item on Bones of all shows really.

I feel like Bones just went through a semi-break up and now they’re working on their relationship. It would be too soon for that again. Unless it’s Angela and Hodgins, I think Bones is okay.

I’m really worried the blind item is for Castle! It took four seasons for Castle and Beckett to get together and I would be bummed if they broke them up! They are a great duo.

Chip Esten seems a pretty big draw to the show (when I saw Nashville in Cincert the crowd screamed louder for him than any other cast member that night), as is “Deyna”. Given how lucky they were to get S4, I strongly doubt they’d kill Deacon off.

I just don’t know of any breakup that would insight that much rage in it. The fanbase for one couple isn’t as strong as other couples.

You’re talking about the “Criminal Minds” fandom, right? Yeah, I’m pretty certain it’s not them-romance isn’t the main driving force of the show, for one thing, so if a couple broke up on there it wouldn’t change the entire setup of the show itself. None of the canon couples would inspire THAT sort of dramatic reaction (the most shocking one would be Will and JJ, but even then, the fan reaction to their breakup would be fairly mild compared to the couples breaking up on “Castle” or “Bones”). And since none of the in-team pairings that fans like are even canon to begin with, well, that would rule them out right there.

Unless one of these clues is a total fakeout just to mess with us all, I agree there’s some shows in general that would be much safer than others here (and some that won’t even apply at all, if they aren’t on one of the five networks or an “aging” drama series). My shows and fandoms look pretty safe, too, judging from the clues given thus far, and I hope that continues to be the case. Because I’d

really prefer NOT to start off the fall season with that kind of drama and mess in my fandom.

Kensi and Deeks on NCIS LA? Angela and Hodgins on Bones? Anybody but Caskett? It’s hard to come up with very many couples who meet the parameters of this blind item.

Kensi and Deeks would definitely have a certain fandom up in arms, as would a Cat/Vincent breakup on BATB. I could also see outside circumstances being available in both cases that might break them up. In the case of the former, maybe even a death!

The Blind Item clues said “aging show”…Nashville is hardly aging at season 4.

And break ups on Nashville hardly alter the DNA of the show. They ARE the DNA of the show.

In the original blind item article Ausiello pretty much stated that the network don’t really give a rats a** about fan reaction….they are prepared to take the hit!! Take what you will from that but thinking that any changes to the show in question are being made taking fan backlash into consideration is mistaken….

The BI said that TPTB aren’t too concerned and actually think it’ll be good for the show. As in, they aren’t concerned *because* they think it’s good for the show. That’s different to they don’t care about the fan reaction (and to me, that doesn’t imply that they expect the show to take a hit). Which means two things – either it sounds worse than it is or TPTB have no clue what is going on around them.

I completely agree. We’ve waited long enough for them to get together. If they break up…their rating will dive down the toilet bowl…😁 heck…I know I’ll Stop watching…

JOT, et al, my silliness aside, I wish we could all have a serious discussion about what might be happening–and not with >500 posts (impressive, but overwhelming). I just note that SK is going to star in a movie, The Rendezvous, surrounded by some excellent film makers and it seems to be set in Jordan. Phasing out of Castle? Of course, it could be filmed in her down time. Thoughts for a different forum. Next go round.

The Rendezvous wrapped last week and she’s moving on to the next project. Not sure how that factors into the show, or if it even does factor into the show.

But yeah, kudos to the showrunners for somehow getting a bunch of buzz over very, very, very little information.

I agree. Something has been off with the show for quite some time, but the shenanigans surrounding the renewal really add an unsettling layer of mystery to The Little Crime Show That Could.

Candice, as diplomatic and lovely as ever. It’s more than The Flash’s producera deserve. Uncoded, what she’s really saying is Iris just got a lot of hate last season and was generally excluded from everything going on, but now that she knows the secrets, I hope I’ll have more to do but I know nothing. Iris can be a big help and a hero if they’d just be more resourceful with her instead of acting like she’s just Barry Allen’s future trophy wife with a cute little reporter career.

Exactly but I’m not getting my hopes too high. That’s what Candice may wish for her character but I doubt that will happen.

You are so right. i think tptb have heard the fans loud and clear. She is more than a love interest. She is also an amazing actress. Her acting is really on another level when she is challenged. I loved her performace in ep 21 she brought all the emotions. I have faith that the Flash won’t go the route of Arrow, yes there are people who hate the Iris charactrer/Candice, but they are in a minority also there will always be those people who dont like her no matter what. I am excited about seasaon 2 with the news of all these new awesome villains, more speedsters, good metas, Iris being on team flash, just so much to look forward to, keeping my fingers crossed it lives up to all the hype in my head. ( side note i can never understand people who say Iris is the weakest character when apart from Barry and wells, she is the only member of hte main cast who started who has eveolved from ep1 S1 to ep 23 S1. All those detractors are honestly telliung me that Eddie, Caitlin and even Cisco had more character development than Iris… I don t even know what to say to that)

Bones and Castle seem too easy. My money is on Snow/Charming on Once. no reason other than it fits the criteria.

But would a Snow/Charming breakup really cause a huge backlash? Most Once fans like them o.k. but are more interested in the newer couples–Outlaw Queen and Captain Swan. Even Rumbelle probably has more dedicated fans. Plus, Snow & Charming are going to be busy dealing with their daughter as the dark one. Seems unlikely that the show would add a breakup story line along with that.

The article said the breakup would rock the show to its core. I don’t see any breakup on Once doing that. Plus, the show is already being rocked to its core by Emma becoming the dark one. I don’t see how a breakup could top that.

Yay for a possible mama West! And I really hope they manage to bring the best of Iris West on season 2, she has so many potential and I would love if the writers develop Iris’s arch as well as Candice and us want!

another love interest, this time for Joe, i hope this show doesnt turn into some crappy soap opera I love Joe and i do want him to be happy but please no drama and since we on love interest when is that dude Cisco gonna get one if anyone should have a love interest right now it should be him. I still think the blind is Damon and Elena. For one, media has previously used word’s ‘show’s DNA’ referring to TVD (google it). Secondly, those fans are gonna be livid over this, it will change everything and the reason could be something like Damon didn’t really love Elena – that would definitely be perceived as a cop out and “incur as much fan wrath as the break-up itself”.

You do know Elena isn’t on the show anymore, right?

I’m going to throw another couple to the list for the blind item, Belle and Rumple in OUAT. The have quite a vocal fandom and maybe Belle finally reached the last straw? Other possibility of maybe Kensie and Deeks for NCIS LA as they do have their fans. I am in agreement though that Castle and Beckett are the strongest contenders.

Appreciate the effort but all I got from Candice comments is that she has no idea what is going to happen with Iris. Which is sad. So Joe has Olivia (be it a troubled Olivia, who will probably take up all of Joe’s time) Barry has Patty/Wendy..so who the heck has Iris’s back as she’s grieving? I don’t know what these writers are doing but way to kill a show.

People, people…it’s not Bones or Castle! You need to re-read the entire blind item, at least 10 times (helps to read it out-loud too) then it will dawn on you. Trust Me!

To put Castle fans as ease: Castle and Beckett wont be breaking up.

The writers have made it perfectly clear these two will be together and nothing will come between them. And if Kate runs for State Senate a separation (or Divorce) will impact her running.

And with a lot of changes going on next season they won’t want to hurt the show even more or alienate more fans.

My guess the couple separating will be either on Bones, Once Upon a Time (pick a couple), Nashville (Avery/Juliette seems like the obvious choice) Penny and Leonard from The Big Bang Theory, or Amy/Sheldon make the split-up official.

If we could get a newtork this couple are on it could narrow down the choices.

not BBT-cause it’s not a hour show……but you’re right many other choices to chose but it also might be a non-main character as well…….

oh and it might-if Castle-bones could be a partnership/work break-up not a lover (married or not) break-up.

Is that really that popular of a love story? It’s a relationship alright, but love story? They’ve barely covered it on the show.

So The Flash is coming back right to where they left off since, how could they not with that cliffhanger? But according to Stephen Amell, Arrow will stay in real time and several months will have passed since Olicity drove off into the sunset. That puts their timelines will be out of sync, unless Flash 2.1 covers a whole lot of time. I wonder how/if that will affect possible crossovers. Time dilation field?

I hope that the producers learned from their mistakes with Season 2 Laurel and don’t attempt to make Iris more “interesting” by giving her a drug problem or something equally lame. [Parallels of guilt over boyfriend dying that she wasn’t 100% committed to.] The fact that she’s been clued into Barry’s alternate identity is a good sign.

I’m really loving UnReal and can’t wait to see how this season plays out. Hopefully Lifetime takes pity on the shows ratings and gives it a S2.

About the blind item, and only thinking of aging shows I watch weekly or here and then:

Criminal Minds – don´t think so, there is no love story there.

NCIS and NCIS:LA – again, don´t think so, there isn´t what I would call a love story wich break-up could cause such a change on the “series DNA”.

Scandal – I don´t know if it fits as an “aging show”, probably not – but splitting Olivia/Fitz, even if they are not an official couple, surely would piss off a big fandom, particulary if it was for Fitz to stay with Mellie!

Grey´s Anatomy – Nah, I don´t see any relation left to cause a strong effect by ending!

Bones – A strong possiblity, but because it´s scheduled to start later, I don´t think so.

Castle – For me, sadly, the strongest possibility! I can´t think of a reason why, and the words” possibly permanently” don´t please me!:(

Maybe it´s on some show I don´t watch, so I know nothing about their couples:)

With all this silly hysteria about the break up or triangle or pregnancy among other wild shots in the dark. Winter/Hawley can only hope to keep Castle from sinking deeper into soap opera style stories and further from the brilliant scripts of that husband and wife team Albert Hackett and Frances Goodrich who penned the original Thin Man movie. Smart, funny, naughty and sassy.

We can only hope the spirit of that original married couple can be resurrected.

I am pretty unhappy about the speculation that Castle and Beckett are the break up couple. The only reason I have continued to watch this show, and the reruns everyday on TNT, is their amazing onscreen chemistry. I could give a crap about off screen disagreements and such. I pay for TV so I can enjoy favorite shows and characters, and without Kate and Rick, this show will be a bore. If that is how they are prepping for their final season, they should have ended it this past season.
