Peeta is kind of weak, but he's so determined to protect Katniss, he overcomes it and really grows as a character. But he also draws power from unexpected places, like his charisma, which I think is really awesome. Gale is rash, but can take care of himself, and he fits better into the classic idea of a man and leader. I like that Peeta is a non-traditional guy because instead of brute force, he uses compassion and words as his weapons. Often times, Gale seems to represent the desire to settle things with violence with little regard for the unintended consequences.
