It was 1980. It had been a while since the Beatles had broken up. John had just recently released his new album, Double Fantasy. He had just finished breakfast, and he heard the phone ring. He answered it. He heard a voice saying, "Hello, John. Is that you?" John said, "Yes, it's me. Who is this?" The person on the other line replied, "It's me, Paul." John said, "Okay, Paul. What do bạn want?" Paul said, "It's been a while since we've seen each other. I'm going to be in New York tomorrow, and I thought I'd like to see you." John said, "This is a trick. I know it is." Paul said, "No, John. It's not a trick. I mean it. What do bạn say?" John said, "Paul, it's not 1957 anymore." Paul said, "I'm aware of that. Look, I'm sorry if I đã đưa ý kiến hoặc did something to upset you. Will bạn at least think about it?" John said, "All right. Where do bạn want to meet?" Paul said, "So, you'll meet with me." John said, "Just answer the câu hỏi before I change my mind." Paul said, "How about New York Central Park at 3:00?" John said, "Okay. That works for me." The tiếp theo day, John was waiting, unsure of Paul's motive. Paul walked up to John and said, "Hi, John. How have bạn been?" John said, "I've been okay. Now, what do bạn want?" Paul said, "I only want to reconcile with you. Don't bạn remember how it was before?" John said, "Yeah." Suddenly, the conversation became friendly. John invited Paul back to his place. He said, "I'm sure bạn remember Yoko." Paul said, "I do." John then said, "And this is our son, Sean." Paul said, "Hi, Sean." John and Paul then began reminiscing about the days past, before they fell apart. Although they were no longer making âm nhạc together, they began to feel that they could still be friends. Little did he know, John would eventually benefit from reconciling with Paul.
