Simone (voiced bởi Yuri Lowenthal)
The main character of our story is Simone, also known as Simone the digger. Simone has spent most of his life living in the underground village Gihad as a digger, a person tasked with drilling holes so the village can expand. One ngày Simone digs up a strange drill-shaped necklace, and seeing it as tresusure, keeps it. Not soon after, he stumbles upon a mech buried deep within the earth and before bạn can say "fate at work" a giant robot called a gunman breaks into his village and wreaks havoc. After breaking his friend Kamina out of prison, Simone, with the help of a strange girl from the surface named Yoko, defeats the gunman with the mech (which Kamina names "Lagann") and they leave for the surface to find new adventures and new enemies. After Kamina get's his own mech, they form a gunman rebellion named "Team Gurren". Simone as a person is your classic rising hero. In the beggining he's weak and not very confident in himself, but later in the series becomes strong and cerageous.
Kamina (voiced bởi Kyle Hebert)
Kamina is Simone's best friend and claimed soul brother, and is also Gihad's town troublemaker. Ever since his dad dissapeared to the surface, Kamina has been determined to go there himself, often getting him and Simone in big trouble. After defeating the gunman with Simone and Yoko, Kamina's dreams are finally fullfilled, and they head to the surface to find new adventure. Later in the series, Kamina hijacks a gunman for his own use and names it Gurren. During a battle against a very powerful enemy him and Simon combine their mechs to create Gurren Lagann, which is where the series get's it's name. Afterword he forms Team Gurren with Simone and becomes it's designated leader. If there is one word to describe Kamina it's manly. He's a strong, natural leader who never backs down to his enemies and always looks out for his friends. And if someone's having a hard time emotionally, Kamina helps them in the manliest way he can: bởi punching them in the face and telling them to suck it up! Overall, bạn could call him your classic warrior and the rolemodel character for Simone.
Yoko (voiced bởi Michelle Ruff)

Yoko is what we could call the third and final "main" character of the series. After getting involved in a battle between a gunman and Simone's Lagann, Yoko invites him and Kamina to live in their village on the surface. Ever since Yoko was a child she and her village have been fighting the gunman, who constantly onslought any human being that live above ground. She's all about girl power, often pointing out to Kamina that she can do anything she can even if she is a woman. During the first few episodes she seems to be nothing but fanservice, but as the series progresses we find that she's actually a strong individual that should be liked for thêm reasons other than her enormous boobs (Though big boobs can make any anime girl likable).
Leeron (voiced bởi Steven chim giẻ cùi, jay Blum)
Leeron (or Ron) is the town mechanic (and fruitcake) of Yoko's villaige. He's devoted his entire life to studying and understanding technology, especially gunman. While it may not seem like it early on, Ron can be pretty useful, and he proves it throughout the series.
Viral (voiced bởi Sam Reigel)
Gurren Lagann's worst and first enemy is Viral, the ever persistent rival character. Viral is a beastman (creatures that pilot the gunman) tasked with destroying all human's that live above ground. After challenging Simone and Kamina to a duel, Viral is humiliatingly defeated after the two Những người bạn morph together to form Gurren Lagann. Ever since his first defeat, Viral has wanted nothing thêm than to defeat Kamina in battle, and often gets in the way of the greater enemies just so he can have his revenge.
Kittan and sisters (Kittan voiced bởi Christopher Smith)
Kittan and his sisters are a group that calls themselves the black siblings, who have been hunting gunman they're entire lives. After Kamina and Simone help them defeat an especially strong gunman, Kittan joins them on their quest. While Kittan is really important to the plot, his sisters are hardly worth mentioning, so if bạn really wan't to know thêm about them, watch the hiển thị yourself.

Wow, not only do we have Suzaku, but we also have Lelouch.
Rossiu once belonged to a small underground village. The village worshipped gunman as gods until one ngày when Simone and Team Gurren showed up and fought another gunman. Rossiu, finding out the truth behind their religion, leaves the village along with two orphans to tham gia Team Gurren so that his people could one ngày live above the surface. While he does become the temporary pilot for the Gurren during the middle of the series, his importance increases dramatically during the last ten episodes.
Nia (voiced bởi Hynden Walch)
Nia is the daughter of the Spiral King Lordgenome, creator of the gunman and main villain in the series. And in case your wondering, that wasn't a spoiler, we find it out basically the first episode we meet her. Nia was cast out bởi her father after she asked him why she existed. She's very innocent and strange, often saying things that make no sense, hoặc asking simple things like "what is a fist?" Even though she's so strange though, she's very cute and lovable, and becomes a major plot key in the last episodes of the series.
The Spiral King Lordgenome (voiced bởi Jameison K Price)
Our last character is Lordgenome, the bad-guy of the series. The creator of the beastmen and the gunman, Lordgenome has pushed humanity underground for mellenia. His deeds are indeed cold, taking human life without a một giây thought, and even casting out his own daughters simply because they became self-aware. We find thêm about him near the end of the series, but for most of Gurren Lagann, his past is vauge and a mystery.
Story
Gurren Lagann's story takes place in an alternate world where humans have been driven to live underground in caverns and tunnels, with no way of reaching the surface. The first half of the anime is spent following Team Gurren as they get new members and fight the Spiral King, while the other half... Well, you'll have to see.
