talked-about TV series of the summer, with a ton of acclaim and attention for the new Netflix series.

One of the most notable characters in Stranger Things, of course, “Eleven”, played by 12-year-old British actress Millie Bobby Brown. This quiet girl, with her shaved head, love of Eggos and, you know, incredibly powerful psychokinetic abilities, makes quite an impression throughout the eight episodes.

I recently sat down with Brown recently to discuss the response Stranger Things has gotten, what it was like for her to portray a character in a decade -- the 1980s -- she is very unfamiliar with, her approach to playing Eleven and much more, including what she\'d like to see in Season 2.

IGN: What’s it been like this summer seeing the show get such great a reaction?

Brown: It’s really exciting actually because I’d been filming this for nearly five months and it’s fun to film it but it’s even more fun to watch it, you know? So I think it’s really cool just to see everybody’s reaction. I knew it was great when I filmed it and I had to keep my mouth shut. It was really hard to be like, “It’s really great. You’re going to like it!” and people not believing and I was going “No, just wait, you’re going to love it.“ It’s been an amazing response.

IGN: I spoke to the Duffer brothers and they were saying how…

Brown: Were they saying how annoying I was?

IGN: [Laughs] Yes, absolutely. They went on and on about that. But no, they mentioned how they only had the first episode’s script when they were auditioning you guys. How much did you know about your character as you began, given you didn’t have much to do in the first episode?

Brown: I didn’t know anything. I knew nothing about my character. I just was told it was related to ET and I was like “great.” I thought it was really clever of them just to write one episode because they can write to the characters more - the actors. They said you kind of write them. So you have Gaten [Matarazzo], who has cleidocranial dysplasia and then you have me, one who is the socially awkward one and doesn’t speak much - and comes from a laboratory with a conspiracy theory. They sort of wrote to me.

IGN: Because you’re from a lab with a conspiracy theory?

Brown: Exactly! Well, I’m quite sarcastic and I’m funny, but not kind of funny. It’s a weird funny and some people don’t get me and some people do. They kind of wrote to that. In some sense they’d be like… When they dropped the space ship… I\'m sorry, I don’t watch Star Wars!

Brown: Yeah, that’s it! And I keep my eyes on Gaten and that’s just a funny scene and I think they wrote cool stuff like that. Little things like that make light humor.

IGN: How much of your powers being used did you get to see on set?

Brown: Not a lot, actually. The special effect guys were amazing. I just had to pretend I had magical powers. “Turn off the lights!” So it was not interesting at all really, on set. [Laughs]

IGN: That being the case, when you got to see the finished project, was it really cool to see everything your character was doing?

Brown: Yeah, and having powers is great, but for me, it’s just making sure that I presented myself right, especially with my character. I wanted to make sure that I related to the audience and made sure that any scene -- even if I wasn’t in a good mood that day because it was my birthday and I had to do school -- I\'d come on set and you have to come on set 150% every day, constantly. [Snaps] Always happy! Always happy! And it’s great, because I think, “I get to go to work all the time!” I don’t

to get up at six in the morning and get to go to a special place with amazing people around me. So that was really fun. That was amazing, really.
