Snape opens the door and Therion slips in quickly, clearly agitated. Before any words are spoken, Therion holds a finger to his lips and meets Snape's eyes directly. We can't leave like this, he thinks. Dementors, he makes a vòng tròn in the air, and Snape looks at Malfoy. Therion thinks to them, there have been a few developments in the last couple of hours, and it's not very an toàn, két an toàn to travel. We'll have to go on the wing. Snape nods and Malfoy grabs Snape's robe. I can't...I've never tried it, I don't know how--he thinks, his tim, trái tim begining to race. He's so close to the light at the end of the tunnel, he can't stand the thought of anything stopping him from reaching it.

Therion places a steadying hand on Malfoy's shoulder and thinks, relax, Lucius. It's as easy as becoming black mist. We'll hiển thị you. Snape extinguishes the lights as they di chuyển to the back of the bungalow. In the bathroom, there is a small window just above the shower, and Therion opens it as the other two wizards follow him in. "Alright," he says softly, "think of the animal bạn wish to become, and just let go. Let it happen. You'll be fine." Therion closes his eyes and takes a deep breath; as he exhales his knees give, and before he's hit the floor, he has become a gorgeous golden brown raven.

Snape and Malfoy watch as Therion hops up to the side of the bathtub, then flits up to the open window. He turns and looks down at them, cawing softly. Snape looks at Malfoy and takes his hand for the briefest of moments, then begins his transformation. His eyes flutter closed as he draws in that long, deep breath, and he exhales as he sees the raven in his mind; his body obeys the need to be, and then he is, hopping up onto the side of the tub, then flitting up to take his place beside Therion. Malfoy looks up at them in wonder for a moment hoặc two and considers all the possibilities, the possibilities of a life he once thought beneath him.

He remembers Cambion, and how beautiful he thought the creature was, a true blending of nature and magic. Such a creature could only have been born of true love, and as he looks up at his transformed lover, he feels a pang of longing...he wants to know what it's like, and it is that very want that propells his transformation. Therion was right, it is as easy as becoming black mist; one một giây he's a man dressed in a faded grey suit and black cloak, the tiếp theo he is a raven, clad in feathers of silver and smoke grey. The two in the window caw down at him encouragingly, and then he's hopping and flitting up to them.

He's thrilled. The very experience of being is totally different in that form, and he begins to understand why some Magicals choose to become Animagi. Snape trills softly and preens him playfully, making him laugh. I tình yêu you, Snape thinks to him and he preens Snape back. This is lovely, Therion thinks to them, chuckling, but we really must go. He scans the sky and tells them to follow him, then takes to the air. As Snape and Malfoy leave the bungalow behind, they see dementors gliding along just below them as if they were not even there.

Why don't they notice us? Malfoy asks, and Snape tells him, because in these forms there is not enough human emotion for them to detect. Therion banks to the right and they follow him closely. Right, Therion thinks, Remus told me that was how Sirius Black survived Azkaban. He spent most of his twelve years there as Padfoot. Dementors left him alone. Snape caws loudly. You've spoken to Lupin? Recently? Therion glances back at Snape as he drops altitude and they do the same. He's in the city, Severus, he and Tonks. The situation is a bad one, he tells them.

Oh, Severus, Malfoy thinks, I don't know that I can face them...they hate me, bạn know they do, I admit they have a right to, especially after the Department of Mysteries--Both Therion and Snape are chattering at him as they near the city, both telling him not to be afraid hoặc hesitant, telling him that both of them had to face and accept their pasts when they turned, and that he must do the same if he is to achieve what they have. And Lucius, Therion thinks as they approach the unseen Magical barrier, the fact that bạn have made it even this far proves you're stronger than bạn think bạn are.

They pass through the barrier and Therion comes in for his landing looking like a dwarf eagle about to catch a fish.

He loves this.

His right foot touches ground first and he actually makes a running landing. When he releases his Animagus form he's still running; he stops suddenly and turns with a flourish of his cloak, laughing. Snape lands as though it is nothing unusual, as though he does this every day. He folds his wings back, and when his form shifts he's crouched; he straightens, smoothes out his áo choàng and turns around to watch Malfoy's landing. The silver and grey raven comes in at an odd angle, lands much too quickly, and off-balance. He hits the ground, flips over onto his back, and struggles to right himself.

None of the onlookers laugh. Snape goes to him and picks him up gently, then checks him thoroughly. "Are bạn alright?" He asks him and Malfoy caws softly. Snape sits him down and waits for him to release himself; when he does Snape takes hold of his arm to steady him. "Well," Malfoy says, "shifting and flying are easy...it's the landing that's going to need work." Now there's laughter, and Malfoy actually laughs at himself with them as he brushes off his clothes.

"Ah, I get it," says a young wizard standing nearby, "his hair and clothes are black, so he's black...your hair and clothes are brown so you're brown, and his--" Therion gives a non-committal half-shrug. "Something like that, yes." He extends a hand toward the young man and says, "Severus Snape, Lucius Malfoy, this is Zack Allen. He is one of our city's Honor Guard." The young man bows respectfully to the wizards, smiling widely. "I just completed my training. It's my first night," he says with pride. Snape thinks he can't be thêm than seventeen, maybe eighteen. Does he know what he may be facing? He doesn't expect an answer, but when Therion gives him one, he is not surprised bởi it.

He has a reasonably good idea, yes. He knows about the First Wizarding War, he knows what may happen now. As they di chuyển toward the few shops still open, the onlookers following behind them, Therion says, "Irena has stayed open so Lucius can find something for tonight." They step in to the cửa hàng and Malfoy thinks it's just as fine as any of the clothiers he's frequented, and immediately something catches his eye. Therion introduces Malfoy to Irena, then tells him to choose whatever he likes and not worry about expense because it's taken care of.

Malfoy looks stunned for a second, then asks Therion why he's doing this. He tells him, "Because, Lucius, I was once where bạn are now, and I remember what it was like. But I didn't have anyone to help me...I was totally alone here, and I felt totally alone in the world. You're very lucky; you're loved, thêm than I think bạn know. I want to see bạn succeed. Many of us don't." He looks away for a second, as if suppressing powerful emotions, then tells Malfoy that he and Snape will be waiting for him outside.

Snape is outside alone when Therion steps out of the shop, and asks him where Elsbet is. Therion tells him, "I took the liberty of making arrangements for her; she's in a nice little house in the Lake District. It's furnished for her, so she's comfortable. Tonks is with her now." They walk over to a pair of benches outside a kẹo cửa hàng called The Sô cô la Cat and sit down. "Severus, things are bad. For the first time in the memory of even the oldest residents here, Sanctuary City is closed. The only reason Lucius was allowed in is because his Ordeal was already set for tonight. Remus and Tonks barely made it here alive."

Snape looks out at the dry fountain, then up at the starry sky. "What could possibly have happened between five and seven o'clock?" He looks back at Therion, and he can see the other wizard is clearly exhausted. "I don't know how to tell bạn this, Severus, but Greyback knows about Ellie. Cambion was making a scout flight and on his way back in, he flew over the pond. It didn't look right to him, so he checked it out. The cá have been killed and the water has been fouled. When he flew over Ellie's house..." he pauses, still trying to deal with the image of what his companion saw..."Severus, just a few feet from the barrier around her house, the bastard had slaughtered an animal and left the horrific mess for her to find. Even with the massive Disillusionment shield he knew her house was there. Greyback and his chó sói, sói Pack are out in force tonight. And," he sighs, "Ted Tonks is on the run."

Snape seems to not have heard the last bit about Tonks' father. "Does Elsbet know about..." he can barely speak; he knows how terribly such a violation will affect her. "No," Therion says, "no one has told her. We've only told her that we feel she's safer here. She didn't argue, though she wanted to get some things from home." Snape nods slightly and asks very quietly what animal had been killed, and Therion hesitates. He can see the realization in Snape's eyes. Snape begins to rise slowly and Therion whispers,

"a doe."
The copper-maned wizard reaches up a gentle hand and tugs playfully on Layne's sleeve. "It's a comfortable bed...but not as warm as I would like." Layne smiles almost shyly and takes off his boots, then turns and reaches down to take off Therion's. They hit the floor with a muffled thud, and Therion chuckles. "That hasn't happened in a while," he says, and Layne sits up, looking at him quizzically. Therion grins and tells him, "no one has taken off my shoes for me in a very long time." Layne nods, a crooked half-grin brightening his face. "Well, I haven't worn shoes in a very long time, so...

So...

107 installments, and nearly a năm of writing. I didn't think it would last this long, but I have to say that it's been a pleasant, and frequently erotic, journey.

I've had a lot of fun nghề viết văn this, and it's made me rethink how I feel about a couple of characters, which is a very good thing.

You're probably asking what this is, so I'll just come to it. I'm going to have to bọc the story up, much to my regret. It's been almost ten days since the last installment, and I wasn't happy with the installment as I đã đăng it, but there wasn't anything else I could do with it. My life is changing,...

As they reach the main level of the house, the birds are discovering that they have a new place to explore, and nearly fly right into the two wizards. "We may have to make a play room for them," Malfoy says as he slides their bedroom door closed. Once alone together they are silent, and the silence is surprisingly awkward. "I felt bạn pass through the barrier when bạn returned..." Malfoy says softly after several phút pass, and a smile plays across Snape's lips. "You're getting stronger, your senses are expanding. That is very good." Malfoy nods as if he knows Snape is not telling him something....

Snape finds part of his family in the phòng bếp, nhà bếp prepairing supper, and the other part sitting in the dining room waiting for him. He is warmly greeted, with kisses and pats on the back, and his appetite is stirred bởi the aroma of the cooking food. He wasn't hungry when he arrived, but now, he is ravenous. "What is that?" he asks Therion, who is crushing chilies, and the wizard flashes a wicked grin. "I hope bạn like it hot, Severus. It's Szechuan chicken, Master Han gave Remus the recipe this afternoon." He watches Therion, Malfoy and Layne deftly and gracefully working together, Malfoy cutting...

Snape walks the halls of the school in the early morning hours, his mind full of racing thoughts, most of which are difficult to pin down. He knows where most of his allies are; Ginny, Luna, Neville, and Draco are in their an toàn, két an toàn place. Ginny, Luna and Neville will be waking soon to start their classes. Peeves is patrolling high above the Death Eaters, watching their every move. Minerva is preparing for her first class of the morning. Only Dobby's location is unknown; he has yet to return from his mission.

This concerns Snape greatly, but not quite enough for him to risk asking Kreacher where...

Elsbet takes her wand out of her pocket and slips it behind her ear, lets the quần áo, áo choàng slip from her shoulders and drapes it over a stone bench nearby, then ties back her hair. No one here will be shocked hoặc surprised to see her as she truly is. She is sure now that the Silhouettes have always known that she is Quendi, they must have always known about her aunt's charm and enchantment, and she realizes now that must have been the reason they took her in the way they did, without her having to go through the Ordeal. They knew. Padfoot...Sirius...must have as well, somehow. All these people who love...

As Elsbet lay sleeping soundly at last, Snape slips quietly out of her bedroom, through the dining room and into the living room. Everyone is asleep. Everyone but Loki and Cambion...He gives them little scratches on their heads and asks them when Andromeda and Ted arrived. Hour'go, Cambion tells him, then Snape looks at the timepiece on the wall. It's later than he though; Dro and Ted must have been awoken bởi the commotion in the park. On the loveseat to his right are Therion and Malfoy, sound asleep, Malfoy's frosty-maned head on Therion's shoulder; on the đi văng (far end), are Dro and Ted,...

She is a tiny baby. At first, the hình ảnh are slightly blurred at best, but they are poignant nonetheless. Her life began in love, he is so very relieved to find. She is laying in something puffy, something warm and very soft, laughing. It is a very sweet sound to him. Her little hands wave above her, as if she's trying to catch something, hoặc touch something just outside of her vision.

Someone is playing with her.

Snape looks at her, his precious love, and thinks she is still just as perfect as she was then. A slender-fingered hand comes briefly into view; it caresses her face, then is gone. Slender-fingered,...

Once in, he encounters only blackness.

To say that this disturbes him would be an understatement.

All of their hard work...all of the information she risked herself to bring him...the very stability of her mind...he is afraid, for her, for himself, and for all that might have been.

But then, something in the blackness stirs. He sees movement in the apparent distance, and as it approaches, he tries to ready himself for the worst. It's a figure with a human shape, draped in a thin, wispy darkness different from the blackness that surrounds them. And then, when the figure stops before him, it waves...

The cool breeze feels so good on Elsbet's face that she thinks it would feel good all over. So as she runs she strips off the first layer of clothing leaving it where it falls. She doesn't know where she is, but she knows somehow that she is safe. She laughs because she feels good, she feels free, she feels like...like...like she needs to find something. But what? What could she need to find? She doesn't know, and at the moment she doesn't care...she hears someone calling her name, but she doesn't answer. Instead, she hides, covering her mouth so she doesn't giggle as they run passed her hiding...

After the lovely lunch, all the chatting and a little crying, they finally get to the reason Elsbet had wanted to see Remus.

"Ellie," he says in a fatherly tone as everyone settles into the living room, "I don't think that's such a good idea. Severus worked very hard to protect your mind against assault and invasion, I don't think we will be able to get very far." He reaches phía trước, chuyển tiếp and touches her hand gently. "Besides, Ellie, we don't know what kind of damage we could do." She nods, sits quietly for a moment, then looks up at him. "But what if something has changed? What if there's something...

Dawn.

Dressed and ready, Elsbet kisses Malfoy awake, then gently caresses Therion, smiling as he wakes and realizes he's holding Malfoy's hand. She steps away from the đi văng as they rise, and walks into the dining room with them. There's a lite breakfast waiting for them; she tells them she thinks it would be nice if they could have bữa ăn, brunch with Remus and Tonks today, and they agree, and settle down to eat after they get appropriately dressed.

"You know," Malfoy says, "I would really like to take a walk today, later, after...after we talk to Remus. I'd like to do something about this," he says,...

Snape lays in his bed, alone, urging himself to go back to sleep. He wants to find his feathered friend again, he wants to dream of his Sanctuary and of his Oddbit, and the other extraordinary people he has in his life. The White City is the abode of Life, but his loved ones are truly his Sanctuary. As he relaxes, he slips into the arms of sleep once thêm and begins to dream, though the dream is thêm memory than anything else.

She doesn't know what to say, really. She thinks back over the dinners, the holidays, the couple of times she got to visit Fred and George at their shop, and never once had she been asked, "so what's it like being a 'special' Muggle in the Magical world?" hoặc anything of the sort.

Therion dresses, then kneels down beside Malfoy. Are bạn alright? he asks him, and the fair wizard replies, ask me later, please... then touches Elsbet's face again. "You're afraid of remembering something painful, and we've told bạn that we will help bạn work through that when it happens." She nods, but doesn't meet...

A wolfpack gathers near a fountain, yapping happily to each other, tails swishing, tongues lolling...three Người sói in particular roll around in the cỏ together, then jump up onto their paws and lick each other's faces. Remus fumbles with the hem of the blanket he's wrapped in, and twirls a bit of fringe between his thumb and forefinger. He draws in a deep breath and lets it out slowly. Layne stares at a small patch of dry cỏ beside Remus. "He's dead, isn't he, Sirius?" Remus sighs softly. He heads directly to the house that Therion had secured for Sirius.

The single white lily he placed before the door is still there, but beside it is another flower, a cây cúc, hoa cúc as white as the lily, and his tim, trái tim tells him Andromeda has been here. He wonders briefly what will become of this house; if left like this, under its own sorrow, it would continue to break down over time, and 'die'. The plot would be unusable, and the sorrow would spread. But under the sorrow of others' as well? Its degradation will accelerate, unless something is done to stop it.
