She had more development and was an interesing villain. However I wish we had seen more of the first Rapunzel becaue she could have been a good character.

I hated the idea of Rapunzel also being Lady Tremaine. It was so stupid and it feels out of nowhere. It felt like it was just for shock factor. They also never explained how she went from bright blonde hair to dark brown hair. Her hair wasn't magic like in the Disney version, so they don't have the excuse of that being the reason why her hair is brown. It was a really poorly thought out idea and just plain stupid. At least the other Rapunzel didn't feel like such a stupid idea, but I do feel they could've done more with her.

The first Rapunzel didn't get as much attention because she is black! Once Upon aR Time has a definite race problem. They didn't even give black Rapunzal a story line or give her a Storybook Counter part. She was a one off and she disappeared but at least she didn't die like the others. Gus Gus dead, Marion killed twice, Merlin Dead, Lance A Lot dead brought back then just disappeared, Ursula not enough screen time, Facilliar at least got a story line but still ended up dead. Along with OUAT having race problems there was also a ton of queer baiting. I will save that rant for another time.

Honestly neither of them

I feel I should prefer the season 7 Rapunzel(s) but she/they were such a mix, getting tossed into too many different fairy tale stories and aspects of the Rapunzel story applying to about 3 different characters in that season.
