I tình yêu Belle. I like that she's sweet, brave, willing to see the best in everyone and not afraid to say what she feels no matter what happens. She is the character that reminds me the most of myself. I like Rumple too mainly because of Robert Carlyle. Who can manage be both alluring and incredibly creepy even dressed as a sparkly imp. I've been a devoted fangirl since the Full Monty and OUAT has only encouraged that. However I can't support Rumbelle.

I know that the idea of seeing the best in someone and changing them for the better is very được ưa chuộng with most girls. I'll admit I've fallen for the "bad boy" hoặc the "charming rouge" in sách and shows on thêm one occasion but some Rumbelle những người hâm mộ refusal to see that there is anything unhealthy about the relationship is frankly disturbing.

I've had những người hâm mộ say to me and to others:

"Rumbelle is not stockholm syndrome. It in no way fits the parameters of SS and to say that it does shows ignorance on your part. -- bạn seem to be tossing around terms that you’ve heard places hoặc heard other people use, with no bother researching what they mean."

"Belle does not have Stockholm Syndrome! I hate it when people say she has Stockholm Syndrome. It's like people don't know what stockholm syndrome is. Stockholm Syndrome is when someone feels sympathy for their captor and starts falling in tình yêu with them even when they abuse and torment the person. Belle doesn't fall in tình yêu with Rumpel until AFTER he changes for the better. And in the Disney movie, she doesn't even start falling in tình yêu with him until he started being nice.
She doesn't fall in tình yêu with him until he stops treating her like a prisoner and started treating her like a guest."

Now, before I make my argument here's the official definition of Stockholm Syndrom. I've bolded the parts that are the most relavent.

Stockholm syndrome, hoặc capture–bonding, is a psychological phenomenon in which hostages express empathy and sympathy and have positive feelings toward their captors, sometimes to the point of defending them. These feelings are generally considered irrational in light of the danger hoặc risk endured bởi the victims, who essentially mistake a lack of abuse from their captors for an act of kindness. Stockholm syndrome can be seen as a form of traumatic bonding, which does not necessarily require a hostage scenario, but which describes "strong emotional ties that develop between two persons where one person intermittently harasses, beats, threatens, abuses, hoặc intimidates the other."

Example #1: sometimes to the point of defending them

In season 2 despite her knowing what he is capable of Belle is constantly defending Rumple and calling anyone who mentions the horrible things he has done liars. In "The Outsider" when Hook tells her about him killing Milah she flat out says "he would never do that!" despite seeing him murder and torture in the past.

Example #2: mistake a lack of abuse from their captors for an act of kindness

In "Skin Deep" Rumple is horrible to Belle; physical, verbally and emotionally abusing her. As the story goes on he less horrible. He is not kind he simply stops being quite so mean. He dosent hit her when she drops the cup, he lets her go to the market instead of locking her up in the castle. In "Lacey" he doesn't kill her when she lets Robin go. Notice these are all bad things that he didn't do that are often passed off as acts of kindness bởi the fandom.

Example #3: strong emotional ties that develop between two persons where one person intermittently harasses, beats, threatens, abuses, hoặc intimidates the other.

In the beginning of "Skin Deep" Rumple is abusive, very few people will deny that but even though he does improve slightly she begins to develop feeling for him while he is still holding her captive and hiển thị abusive tendencies. "Lacey" only confirms this. Then when she kisses him he flys into a rage and goes right back to his earlier abusive self.

The recurring Rumbelle themes "you see the good in me" and "you made me a better man" are catchphrases used bởi abusers since the beginning of time. Why? because of this romantic fairytale idea that "true tình yêu can turn a bad person good". Abusers use that idea to keep people with them even when that person knows they should leave. It's a lovely idea in fiction but in reality situations like this rarely have happy endings.

I now what your all saying now. "It's just a story. why are bạn making such a big deal out of this?" Yes it's just a story and I have no problem with those những người hâm mộ that enjoy this fictional relationship for what in is, a complex tình yêu story, but also recognize how potentially unhealthy and dangerous it is. It is the people like those quoted above who are oblivious to its abusive nature that worry me. Tying to pass these tendencies off as romantic could encourage those in harmful relationships to ignore the signs in hopes of "changing them for the better" as Belle did.

till-therewas-you summed it up perfectly in another bài viết so let me end with her words.

"Look, I get it. The idea that bạn can find a soft spot in every guy, and change him is a fantaisie that most girls have. -- But holding the idea that bạn can change a man will just lead to disappointment. Don’t get me wrong, it happens. But it’s the exception, not the rule. The exception. Us women should just look for decent guys that aren’t perfect, but will treat us and other people right."

Ruby&Granny in Broken:
When Snow/Charming were hugging Emma, Ruby and Granny are obviously in the background. But nobody seems to notice the way they look at each other nearer the end. I don't have any pictures for any of these, but go back and watch the episodes if bạn don't believe me! They give each other such a loving look, and I find it adorable.

Regina&Cora in Manhattan:
I'm sure some people have picked on the fact that when Hook barged into Regina's room, Cora and Regina were holding hands. I'm always curious as to why they were, but it was really cute.

Neal in Going Home:
When Regina took hold of the curse and she collapsed to the ground, Neal immdeiatly went to catch her head to make sure she didn't hit it off the ground and pass out even more. Most people just notice Emma and Henry running over to help her, but I just noticed Neal! Such a gentleman :')
I just want to start off bởi saying that I don't intend to upset any những người hâm mộ of these ships I just wanna explain some things that I feel like some people don't acknowledge. Another thing that I want to state is that I don't think there is such a thing as a "good"or "bad" person. Everyone has done good things in their life and everyone has screwed up at some point, as well. I think it will be important for bạn to know this as bạn read.

I'm not going to tell bạn which ship I ship yet, just so bạn can hear me through :) (Even though you'll probably figure it out)

When I re-watched some episodes of Season...

This countdown was based on first impression things only like looks, mannerisms, voice. Any difference in their personality and story were not considered. Of course OUAT is its own hiển thị and there are a lot of differences so much that some had a hard time seeing any resemblances:

I think non of these các nữ diễn viên resembless to Disney princesses. The only thing that resembless to Disney, it's their costumes and dresses. ~ magichand

others had no problem seeing it:

I found this bài viết on tumblr and I have to share it. I'm a hooker (hook's fan) but honestly I'm sick and tired that so many people justified hook's action, he's not prince charming he's a villain and from our childhood we know how awesome he is as a villain (well probably not from the Disney version, he was a comic relieve in that one)!

Here's the article, I hope bạn enjoy it:

Sleeping Beauty
In one of the very earliest versions of this classic story, published in 1634 bởi Giambattista Basile as Sun, Moon, and Talia, the princess does not prick her finger on a spindle, but rather gets a sliver of cây gai stuck under her fingernail. She falls down, apparently dead, but her father cannot face the idea of losing her, so he lays her body on a giường in one of his estates.
Later, a king out hunting in the woods finds her, and since he can’t wake her up, rapes her while she’s unconscious, then heads trang chủ to his own country. Some time after that, still unconscious,...
