Created bởi Team17; Worms SO is a bit of an odd addition to the Worms series, but that doesn’t stop it from being a good game.

STORY/CUTSCENES
As far back as I can remember Worms games have never really had stories; WSO made a little bit of effort to set the scene, but didn’t try to force it like the Sonic series has done recently. As bạn progress through the Story Mode bạn will gain new flags, voices, heads, graves, cutscenes and a mini game which bạn will have to complete at the end of each planet.
The cutscenes are short but extremely amusing; this is partly due to how expressive the worm’s faces are. Another thing that made WSO cutscenes very funny is how completely stupid the worms are; whether it’s not realising they are going in the opposite direction to their destination, hoặc chasing after a UFO and ending up on the other side of a worm hole (oh, very clever Team17) with not much hope of returning.... it seems I just summarised the story. Seeing as WSO is a Wii game, I expected the customised characters to be viewable in these cuts scenes and in the mini games, instead of the standard worm.

CHARACTER CREATION
I was very happy to see that WSO allows bạn to customise your team’s appearance, as well as their names, team name, voice, flag, grave, fort and even a victory dance (including a di chuyển called “The Worm” <sighs at awful joke>). The appearance customisation has a good range of helmets/heads, including Robot Head, Alien Head, Eye Ball, Hatless, không gian Hat and even Skull.
I think the range of colours bạn can choose for your worm’s skin is good enough, and it would be a waste time to add thêm colours into the tiếp theo game.
I was slightly disappointed about not being able to choose a special weapon for my team (like Worms 2) and being limited to only three worms per team, but the choice they made to leave out those features wasn’t exactly a major game-changing one.
The voices are very funny and frequently make references to sci-fi films. There’s not much else to say about the voices, except that some of them are a little bit disturbing.

CONTROLS/MENUS
The motion sensor and <forgets word> um..... point-at-screen-thingy..... isn’t’ over-used and it’s actually quite fun. Sometimes bạn will have to use your Wiimote as a cheesy pump-action bomb detonator, and sometimes you’ll need to shake it to throw a grenade. I found that I really had to strain my eyes to see some of the text on the screen and the on-screen buttons are very fiddly. I also found the level creator very fiddly, but that’s down to me not having a steady hand.

WEAPONS
Quite disappointed with the choice of weapons, there must be about 12 at the most. Although there aren’t a lot of weapons, they did seem to make the most out of each, and a match pretty much functions as it did in the other games..... with the exception of the Ninja Rope, I will kill them for leaving that out.

MULTIPLAYER
What’s that? Yes, it is the familiar sound of Nintendo chickening out of yet another opportunity to get some good old online competiveness going. That’s right, NO online features; from a game which is a well known sociable series. Yes, there is couch-multiplayer; but it’s a huge disappointment to be restricted to playing against those who are in the vicinity, especially in this ngày and age.
I’m just assuming that Nintendo was behind the decision to not have online play in WSO, được trao their gần đây history of boring offline games. If it was Team17’s idea then there’s another game producing company I can no longer trust to make games worthy of buying.

Worms: a không gian Oddity is a good game, but just that. It could have been a lot better, had Team17 put thêm time and effort into improving and polishing the features and menu buttons and had there been online play, worm clans, online co-op, Ninja Ropes and leader boards.... well, that would be a fantastic game.

I’ve concluded this game is worth buying....ish.
