depends on it's caliber: if it is good/fascinating/artistic/innovating/inspi­rin­g it is a film, if it is just fun(ny)/a way to kill some time it is a movie

I use both. Just depends on which one I feel like saying. Sometimes I can't be arsed with the extra syllable in movie so I use film.

It's mostly movies except in cinema class where they are films. My professor got so mad when people said movie.

it really depends on what my mood is as weird as it sounds =/. I will probably just say/type whichever comes to mind first.

Both really, I use movies quite a bit on here. But all of my friends say films, so I've got back in to the habit of saying films now. Plus I think I get on their nerves when I use loads of american phrases. ;)

I use both. When i'm going to watch a dvd at home then i say 'film' but if i'm going to the cinema then i call it 'movies'

tho in my language we call it 'filmy' :P
