nati30 twilight's not more popular, it just seems like it is because all the fans are teenage girls who spend three quarters of their day on twitter or facebook, or looking up stuff about twilight so they make it seem more popular, but in reality, harry potter has drawn in much bigger audiences, especially in the theaters.

ToyletGnome Twilight's appeal is in attractive and supposedly "perfect" men. Young girls also find it very easy to become Bella as she essentially has no personality and, in the books, no specific appearance, aside from hair and eye colour. I think quite a few of the readers see this as "able to relate to" whereas really it's "I can pretend Edward's in love with me because I am Bella." Twilight especially appeals to girls who don't read (I know quite a few) because it's so blatantly obvious. Harry Potter involves a lot of mystery, symbolism, deeper meanings, and thinking. Twilight's mystery is answered in the first line of the blurb. The whole book requires such little thinking power, it can appeal to the less intelligent, screaming fangirls who just want to ogle at hot actors. If you really think about it, Harry Potter is a much more mature and intelligent book, yet because it's in the children section it's suddenly 'dumber' than the young adult Twilight. The romance in Twilight is introduced quickly while in Harry Potter you have to wait until Goblet of Fire for it to be introduced and Order of the Phoenix for anything to happen. All in all, Harry Potter is an adventure/fantasy novel and doesn't need to rely on 'romance' *cough obsession* as a substitute for a compelling plot.

AprilCandy42 R33n33sm3: What nati30 is saying is completely true. Why? Because at the current date, Twilight has 2 movies, and HP has like, 6 movies. It draws more audience to the theater because there will be more to watch, especially when it comes to movie buffs and DVD addicts. And besides, the Twilight movie is about an hour to watch, the HP movies are on 3 hrs. ToyletGnome: I agree, a lot.

She_wolf Twilight isnt more popular though, its alot less popular, because Harry Potter appeals to younger readers as well as a few older readers. Twilight on the other hand is for older (and mostly female) readers, who can deal with more 'heavy' issues (like edwards stalkerish behaviour =/). Well, that's what I think anyway... im sure lots of people disagree with me... ♥

Renarimae Really in my opinion the only reason why Twilight is so popular is just because of Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. Twilight wasn't even very popular before they made it into a movie. I know I never heard about it till' 2008. And what's so weird is that, it's okay. I saw all three movies and I enjoyed them, but they aren't the best movies I've seen. The HP movies are better IMO.

PotterForever Twilight isnt more popular, it only seems like it is because the media is giving it so much more attention, which is because it has more sex appeal, and the ability to make teenage girls scream their heads off. Wheras Harry Potter is actually quality, and dosen't rely soley on sex and "hotness" to be good. Justin Bieber is also being hyped by the media for similar reasons. But in reality, Harry Potter is by far the more popular series. It's movies make much more money than Twilight movies (its the highest grossing film franchise of all time) and the books have sold 300 million more copies than Twilight (its the fastest selling book series in history.) Twilight has fangirls at ever corner screaming about how hot Edward is, but that right there is the main audience, wheras Harry Potter has an audience of all ages, and equally both genders. Harry Potter will very likely be a future classic, while Twilight will fade and be forgotten within 5-10 years.

And I was one of those people that were waiting till' midnight outside of Wal Mart to get Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which was a book I didn't regret waiting in line for. And when I was in line, I saw these kids dressed in Hogwarts robes or as Harry Potter. I mean, how many people do you see dressed up as Twilight characters?

Allies57 Harry Potter is a fantasy novel not a romance novel. Harry Potter has more themes in it, like courage, family, and friendship, while Twilight which is about illogical and selfish obsessions about stalking, and blindly obeying a bloodsucking monster.
