Because those are faries not vampires.

Because sunscreen does not stop the sun from touching you. Just like how bạn can get a sunburn while wearing sunscreen, a vampire (whether he glitters hoặc burns) would still be effected bởi the sunlight shining down on him.

It was because Meyer wanted uber special ma cà rồng and thus took away every single weakness that they have. This comes from the fact that I can't possibly believe that Meyer wasn't in the slightest familiar with vampire legends before she started writing. She takes too much from other Vampire authors to be funny. But anyways, she figured cutting their weaknesses was a good thing, but that is just poor writing.
