Dylan O\'Brien at the 2013 San Diego Comic Con International in San Diego, California.
"Teen Wolf" star Dylan O\'Brien faced multiple injuries after getting into a car accident while on shooting for the upcoming third sequel of the young-adult post-apocalyptic dystopian science fiction franchise, the "Maze Runner: The Death Cure." According to a report by
Vanity Fair, the scene that O\'Brien was shooting involved transporting in a vehicle.
Film studio 20th Century Fox noted the public that he was immediately transferred to a local hospital in Vancouver for observation and treatment. His condition was initially in jeopardy but director Wes Ball has already released a statement via an image of a handwritten letter posted in his Twitter account. He said that O\'Brien is "one tough cookie" and he is going to be just fine. He is currently recovering and will be at rest for a few weeks. After that, he will be back again to shooting and finishing the third movie.
"Maze Runner" series author James Dashner also shared his concern for the actor. "I just want to let everyone know that yes, Dylan was hurt, but that he\'s going to be okay. Not life threatening in any way," he said in a Twitter post.
The production of the film has been shut down but it has not been cancelled. Filming for "Maze Runner: The Death Cure," which is scheduled to be released February 2017, will be up and running again by the time the 24-year old actor fully recovers. Complete details on the accident has not been disclosed by 20th Century Fox to the public but WorkSafeBC is investigating the incident. According to The Globe and Mail, the British Columbia workplace safety agency is ensuring that the producers were providing a safe workplace.
Trish Knigh Chernecki, spokesperson for the agency, said that their job is to make certain an employer is promoting health and safety for their workers. She also said that in general, WorkSafeBC would be doing risk assessments and health and safety procedures. They will also be speaking and probing anybody who had information about the accident including O\'Brien.
