Sophie Turner has an idea for Sansa’s next romantic relationship.
The long-suffering Stark has found herself in one disastrous pairing after another on HBO’s
. There was Sansa’s engagement to the psychotic Joffrey Baratheon, then a loveless marriage to Tyrion Lannister and most recently – and notoriously – her arranged merger with the sadistically abusive Ramsay Bolton.
So we asked Sophie Turner who in Westeros or Essos is Sansa’s ideal romantic match. And the
star suggested her character should try something entirely new.
universe, I think she’s going to have to swing the other way – because the men thing isn’t working for her,” Turner told EW while on the set of season 6 in the video above. “Judging by Sansa’s relationship with Margaery … probably Margaery.”
It’s true – Margaery Tyrell (Natalie Dormer) and Sansa seemed to get along rather swimmingly back in season 3. Margaery even invited the Stark to live in the Tyrell capital of Highgarden. Plus, Margaery has had her own series of calamitous relationships, jumping from Renly Baratheon (dead) to Joffrey (dead) to Tommen Baratheon (too young, and a bit of a wimp).
But Turner then jokingly threw in another suggestion for Sansa, one that’s arguably even more debauched than the hook-ups we’ve previously seen on
: That Sansa should have a love scene with her kid sister.
“Or [Sansa could hook up with] Arya – because I’d like to see that happen,” Turner said, laughing. “I’d love a love scene between Arya and Sansa.”
