nobody's perfect

When i first came to fanpop i didn't really do anything much but make the occasional pick and watch video but when i did start to contribute thêm it was because of the nice các bình luận and messages that những người hâm mộ sent me that made me a addict.

I tình yêu to contribute for others but i tình yêu it even thêm when someone shows that they appreciate it weather it be a prop, a nice bình luận hoặc message hoặc simply rating it.
If những người hâm mộ hadn't of been so nice i probably wouldn't spend even a quarter of much time on fanpop as i do now, as the best thing is talking and joking with the Những người bạn I've made on here.

So it truly does annoy and upset me when i see những người hâm mộ criticizing new fans. Now don't get me wrong, I'm all for telling new những người hâm mộ about repeat picks, grammar and image credits but only if it's done in a constructive and friendly manner.

for example on a gần đây pick, yes it had a funny spelling mistake on the câu hỏi itself but there was no need for những người hâm mộ to say stuff like

"you can't spell for crap"
"my god, what did bạn think the xem trước was for?"
"get a creative mind"
"seriously get a dictionary"

hoặc another example is from a soapbox

"gee, how original"
"unoriginal and I'm not sure this passes as English?"
"what do bạn think spell check is for?"
"well it gave me a laugh"

now bạn may read these các bình luận and think they all must be from trolls hoặc something, but a lot of of these các bình luận were from users who are generally brilliant and have always been really nice to me and other users and i do understand their frustration and i too have occasionally left a bình luận that was probably harsher than it should have been.

So if bạn are going to criticize someone
-try and make it polite
-don't be sarcastic with them
-remember English isn't everybodies' first language
-try and point out something positive
-make it constructive

I think one of the best things is when i see a người hâm mộ sticking up for a new user and encouraging them
as like i đã đưa ý kiến encouragement is what made me and I'm sure many other users stick around and become addicts.
and of course all new users are brilliant, as they bring loads of new ideas and we were all new once.

inespinto Really good! One of the reasons I fanpop a lot is because I like the interaction with other Fanpoppers and I really hate it when people bring others down or are not polite. This happens a lot in the One Tree Hill Spot because of the all Brucas/Leyton situation and a lot of times people are very rude and I always try to not be harsh or unfriendly when expressing my opinions. Anyway (sometimes i can't stop talking), this article is really good because everybody should be aprecciated and treated with respect and Fanpop is made by all his contributors.

amazondebs lol i know what you mean there a spot called spuffy vs bangel and as you can guess it really is just fans debating about buffy although so far we have been friendly well mainly :)

inespinto well most of the times people are reasonable but sometimes there's a little name calling and what not, which I don't think is very correct. I try to ignore but maybe for new fans it's not a very good first impression =P

TheCountess How right you are debs! The appreciation and interaction are part of the fun and attraction of Fanpop. I almost made a bad blunder in one of my comments about a week ago. Before I finished posting it, I realized that it would be better to message the person directly, and point out what was wrong, suggest how to fix it, and list the possible benefit(s) of doing so. I think it's better than to post it where everyone can see it, and possibly cause public humiliation. I didn't hear back from the person, but I noticed that they took my advice and corrected the problem shortly afterwards. Hopefully there weren't any hard feelings that way, because the intentions were good.

dazl I've done it, and I've felt bad about it. I don't like abusing new users, unless they are Smurfs. That's just asking for trouble. However, my main problem lies with established users who consistently make the same mistakes (no image credtis), and point blank refuse to make an effort to change. It makes me feel bad that one of the things I was nominated for a Fanpoppy for was an option that led to a lot of abuse towards a new user, despite the fact I'd added it as a joke. So molli, I'm very sorry. Good article debs! I was so tempted to start abusing you about it though, just for the irony ;D

amazondebs ha ha ha lol abuse away at least you already know that I'm addicted now :) and that answer wasn't meant as any harm, i think there's a comment somewhere on that pick from carly saying how cool it is that molli invented a new word as word, so if she's got a sense of humor she won't have taken offense so i wouldn't worry about it :) and i do know what you mean those that keep doing stuff start to become old fans though and then we can critisize ;)

Let me explain.
This morning I got up, had breakfast and decided to leave fanpop and twitter.
Don't ask why, various reasons, don't feel like elaborating them right now.

So I'm saying to myself "Caramelmilk, if bạn leave, bạn have to leave with a BOOM." Which means I wanted my account to disappear like a fart in the atmosphere.
I thought "How hard can it be to get banned, even people who were not trying to get banned do get banned.
And if bạn get banned bởi "accident" bạn can always message the F4 in a couple of months if bạn decide bạn wanna come back."...
