Disney XD To Reboot ‘Ducktales’ Animated Series For 2017 Launch
The network said today that it has ordered a new animated comedy series based on the Emmy-winning series that aired from 1987-1990 as part of
daily syndicated cartoon block. The new series is slated to launch in 2017. Produced by Disney Television Animation,
will again star Disney’s iconic characters Scrooge McDuck, his grandnephews Huey, Dewey and Louie, and Donald Duck.
Disney XD Orders Season 2 Of \'Star Vs. The Forces Of Evil\' Ahead Of Series Launch
The new series will follow Scrooge McDuck, his curious and mischief-making grandnephews — Huey, Dewey and Louie — and the optimistic yet temperamental Donald Duck as they embark on high-flying adventures worldwide. Other beloved characters slated to be in the new stories are: Duckworth, Gyro Gearloose, Launchpad McQuack, Flintheart Glomgold, Magica DeSpell & Poe, Ma Beagle and the Beagle Boys (Burger Beagle, Bouncer Beagle), Mrs. Beakley and Webbigail Vanderquack.
“DuckTales’ has a special place in Disney’s TV animation history, it drew its inspiration from Disney Legend Carl Barks’ comic books and through its storytelling and artistic showmanship, set an enduring standard for animated entertainment that connects with both kids and adults,” said Marc Buhaj, SVP, Programming and General Manager, Disney XD. “Our new series will bring that same energy and adventurous spirit to a new generation.”
Alan Young is 95 years old,and I doubt he\'d be able to come back for a long-term...

Great idea, the original series is still fondly remembered by many Disney fans and the characters go back generations. Good to see the company continue to acknowledge their history and legacy in addition to the newer Marvel/Lucasfilm properties.
bring back Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers, and Talespinv too!
Gargoyles and rescue rangers more than anything
don’t forget Darkwing Duck, lets see Negaduck, Bushroot, Taurus Bullba, Goslin, the bad guy that was electricity or something, the bad guy that was a dog but was water, and the bad lady that was like a cleaner, can’t remember all the names.
Megavolt and Ammonia Pine? (the name of the water dog also escapes me, but i can look that up)
No idea what you’re talking about on this one.
I agree bring back more of the good classic cartoons goof troop tailspin gummy bears this is a start to bringing back something worth watching
As long as they keep the original theme song!
dont get you hopes up. the characters will probably be all computer looking and the voices will probably suck. look what they (not disney but others) did to ninja turtles, smurfs, rainbow brite, & strawberry shortcake. they will probably have hip hop autotuned theme songs. it would break my little 80s heart.
The living cast (which is most everyone, actually) reprised their roles for DuckTales: Remastered, and Alan Young has also appeared as Scrooge in the Mickey Mouse shorts as well. Disney can be trusted to revive DuckTales faithfully.
I couldn’t agree more. Nothing more depressing than seeing a bastardized version of your beloved 80s cartoons.
I think some of the original voice actors are still alive. They used them for the remastered version of the Ducktales game. Not saying that a 75-year-old Hewie is a good idea, mind you. :P I hope they stay as true to the old show as possible. It was fantastic and trying to make them ‘hip’ wouldn’t work. Make them loveable and funny, keep the original animation style and I think it might be very enjoyable. Even if it isn’t, though we’ll always have the original one to love and cherish :)
Chip and Dale would be a cool reboot, too lol, but I am absolutely thrilled Duck Tales is coming back. My sons were small when it first aired so I saw a good portion of every episode. It was well done and it is not just hype that it appealed to both children and adults.
I’m glad to see that Disney is bringing back these characters. I’m just wondering what’s the style and tone of the show, will it be like the original or will they completely modernize it?
I also support bringing back Gargoyles and Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers…
Might solve a mystery or rewrite history, Ducktales! Woo-hoo!
I hope that they base the new episodes on the work of Don Rosa, the best Duck storyteller after Carl Barks. Some of his stories are even direct sequels to Barks stories.
Finally my unborn kids will have something better to watch!
This won’t be the same without Alan Young voicing Scrooge McDuck. He might be up to do the voice but by then he will be 98 years-old (God-willing!!). Even if he can do the voice it would be unwise to plan on him long-term (I hate even thinking that as I am a HUGE fan back to Mr. Ed.) He better get a major character named after him or be given a key role to voice for a short time. Honor the master!
This is a great idea. I loved Ducktales and it’s still enjoyable to watch even now. As someone else pointed out I would love for the episodes to be based on Don Rosa’s work. His stories were incredible. Imagine ‘The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck’ as a cartoon. That’d be amazing.
Why not just continue from the 100 th epiosde of Ducktales from 1990 and continue from Ducktales – the movie – treasure of the lost lamp? why do you need to f-ing remake (reboot is a damn remake)
Not looking forward to this, because it won’t be the same and it most definetly will be in crappy cgi, when it should be in glorious traditional animation like it used to be
hopefully this gets cancelled before production, I do not want to see Ducktales, Darkwing Duck, Bonkers, Talespin, Gargoyles, Goof Troop, Chip N’ Dale Rescue Rangers, Gummi Bears, Marsupilami, or Quack Pack getting shiiited on with today’s version of disney and crappy cgi.
I almost died from excitement when I read this!!!! DUCKTALES IS and will ALWAYS BE my FAVORITE animated series EVER!!!!!!! SO BEYOND EXCITED FOR THIS!!!!!!!!! And YES….PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Disney KEEP THE THEME SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And also…bring back the rest of DISNEY AFTERNOON….DARKWING DUCK, CHIP & DALE RESCUE RANGERS, TALESPIN to name a few of the FAVORITES!!! :) But yea….WAY TO GO DISNEY!!!!!!! BUT PLEASE……DON’T DO THIS CGI…regular 2D is PERFECT!!!!! ……DUCKTALES…WOOOHOOOO!!!! :)
I don’t who replaced that witch Ann Sweeney but God Bless Him/Her
Carl Barks was the greatest! Can’t wait to see this – now I’m searching Netflix for the original series!
I can’t believe they are relaunching this series. It is one of my favorite cartoons and I own every box set. I just heard about it and am so psyched that I will be able to introduce my kids to new Ducktale episodes when it launches in 2017. Please if you can launch it sooner…im to excited to wait. Thank you so much Disney you guys are great in everything you do. Keep up all the long and magical journeys.
Race cars, lasers, airplanes — it’s a duck blur
Alan Young is 95 years old,and I doubt he’d be able to come back for a long-term series – one offs are one thing. I guess Unca’ Scrooge will become another character Jim Cumming with voice! :)
