IMO, I think this upcoming season's main focus is Elena learning to control her urges and everything for her is going to be new and she's going to have to face some new obstacles and challenges now that she's a vampire. Everything is heightened for her and she barely turned into a vampire, in all honesty Elena's main focus this season is learning to control herself and eplore new things. It's still a little early for DE to be a couple and I think once Elena gets used to the fact that she's a vampire, then in S5 we'll finally have our DE endgame hopefully.
