i'm confused about what elena is trying to do to save the others.

i'm not sure about this.
But, let me try.
so, Klaus wants to break the curse, which he needs elena's blood, vampire, werewolf, witch and the moonstone.
But that will hurt people elena cares about, so in order to protect them, she's going to find Klaus...
so here's my question, so what if she did find Klaus? how does she save them?
& what is damon/stefan/bonnie trying to do to save elena? the moonstone can break the curse alone?
