I'm not a phan, but if I recall... Erik isn't a vampire. Despite whether or not he's a more interesting character, better romantic interest, or stronger creature than Edward Cullen, he's... not really a vampire.

It's kind of like asking, "Could James Bond pass as a better vampire than Edward Cullen." James Bond is definitely more badass (even if he is just as sexist) but he's no vampire, so it's a moot point.

EDIT: Besides, link makes a better vampire than Edward Cullen.
