Prior to making the successful transition from gospel to Pop and classic R&B music, Sam Cooke, Lou Rawls, Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin and Wilson all got got their start sing in church as young children. Back in the day, it was forbidden to sing hoặc record secular âm nhạc for the reason it was considered the Devil's âm nhạc bởi the ministers of local churches, and there would be major trouble for anyone who decided to pursue a career hát and recording secular music; in addition, to to being accused of leaving the church for that kind of music. With their Gospel trained voices, the musicians were successful in that crossover to R&B and mainstream Pop music.

Sam Cooke and Lou Rawls; for example, both received the vocal training hát the church when they were very young. Sam got made his debut as young hát alongside his siblings, "The hát Children"; in addition, to hát lead vocals with such Gospel groups such as The Highway QCs as a teenager prior to replacing R.H. Harris as lead vocalist of the Gospel group, The Soul Stirrers, in 1950 when was just 19 years old. Having joined joined forces with childhood friend, Lou Rawls, hát another gospel vocal group The Traveling Pilgrims in the mid-50's. Just most of the old school R&B singers bạn hear on the radio and classic recordings have all got their start hát in church.

When I other singers like Donny Hathaway, Etta James, Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston, I can hear the rich deep sound; as well, as clarity in their Gospel-trained voices and I understand what they're as they sing. Nat "King" Cole and Dinah Washington also got their early vocal training in hát in church, too. Did bạn know that Michael Jackson was a huge người hâm mộ of Gospel legend Mahailia Jackson? I read it somewhere in one of the magazines in an bài viết pertaining to him? I was surprised to hear that. Whitney Houston, who could forget her, got start hát in the church, where her funeral was held, in Newark, New Jersey back in 2012, had a voice that was out of this world compared to her idol and godmother, Aretha Franklin, who released her full-length Gospel album when she was just 14 years old, back in 1956 under the guidance of her father, Reverend C.L. Franklin. When she just 25 years old, "Respect" went to #1 on the BILLBOARD Pop Charts back in 1967, making her an overnight sensation.

All these singers I mentioned have all got their vocal training in the church and made the successful transition in the R&B and Pop âm nhạc scene; in addition, to recording several albums in the process. Then there's Wilson Pickett, who earned his nickname, "The Wicked Pickett", due to his distinctive vocal stylings on classic recordings such as "The Midnight Hour" and "Mustang Sally". There were other artists who have made the successful transition from Gospel to R&B and found enormous success, but it doesn't take the place of the these talented classic R&B singers, which I've spoken about in this article; as a matter of fact, whenever I hear one of their classic recordings on C.D. hoặc radio, I know good âm nhạc when I hear it
